For a long time (relatively speaking), I didn't care for "Houses of the Holy". But I watched it a few more times, once I had the disks, and slowly came to change my mind. Now it makes me sad, looking at how young both Sam and Dean appear. They're world-weary, but they're still trying to believe, to trust. Sam, in particular, wants to believe they're not alone in their fight; that there are angels watching over them, that God is somehow present.

I wonder what S6!Sam might say to S2!Sam--and if S2!Sam might believe him. If he would do things differently.

I love this episode now, but it makes me ache for them, knowing what I know is coming. Not only is no one "upstairs" watching out for them/helping, the angels are just as bad as the demons, in their own way. Using the Winchesters for their own purposes without a care for the (fragile) human souls. Because (imo), the only reason for the battle between Michael and Lucifer is because of daddy issues. Not destiny, nothing so noble. And even if it were written in the stars as destiny, there were any number of times when things could have been changed--but the ones who had the power to do so chose not to.

Wow, that got ramble-y. I think maybe I should actually take the nap that's tugging at me, because my brain is clearly overwhelmed and sleepy.

Sing Your Hymns Like Angels In Defeat, by [livejournal.com profile] dreamlittleyo and [livejournal.com profile] leonidaslion.

And Lucifer Fell for a second time with the burning brilliance of a star. The Flare shone in his wake, and darkness fell upon the land ...

It's Sam/Dean, and it is absolutely, incredibly, brilliantly gorgeous. This is everything the end of S5 should've been, and there's gorgeous, awesome, wonderful art to go with it.

It's also for meeeee! It's MY story! *clutches it tightly*

Go! Read! And be sure to leave them feedback.

I know these are gonna be all over my flist today, and I don't care. I want to see these happy, smiling boys. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] felisblanco and [livejournal.com profile] missyjack.

Look at those smiles!! These are not boys who are tolerating each other; these are boys who adore each other and are bestest friends.

Could Jared BE any bigger? I swear he looks like he's a giant. [livejournal.com profile] jadedpen...proportional, yes? ;)

A couple more under the cut. )

Man, I'd forgotten how YOUNG both boys look in S1. I'm just today catching SPN on TNT, and it's the season ender...and wow. So young, still so innocent and unaware of what's coming. *pets boys* Interesting, too, how Dean says to Sam, "I'll be the one to bury you," when he's calling Sam on how bent on revenge Sam and John both are. Makes me wonder if S1!Dean would've made the same decision to sell his soul as S2!Dean did.

In other words, [livejournal.com profile] kaiz, I made an appointment. Tomorrow at 1030a. I really don't wanna go, but I promised, so.

Had Matthew's IEP meeting today. I had no idea, but Kentucky public schools don't require foreign language as a graduation requirement. Thank GOD. He has enough trouble with English. Oi. Still having trouble getting him to accept/use some of the things he could to make things easier on him (and everyone else). He doesn't want to use the Alpha Smart keyboard--doesn't want to seem different or stand out, and I get that, but. So, we're going to talk again; couldn't do it in the meeting because wow. Get my kid in a room with me and several teachers, and no more happy-go-lucky Matthew, I get sullen!boy.

We have to start talking about his classes for next year, because he has to pick them at the end of this month (ALREADY??). His spec ed case manager is suggesting he take a semester of JROTC, since he's expressed some interest in the military. It'll be a good way for him to suss out if the interest goes deeper, without, y'know, having to enlist for several years.

And now to start answering comments and emails. :)

I tend, on a fairly regular basis, to forget (or just blank out, more likely) just how literal Matthew really can be. He does a lot better understanding stuff than he used to, so sometimes I forget.

Tonight was a shining example of my son's literalness:

Cutting, because it does have some spoilers for tonight's ep. )

Still hanging out in the Dark Angel end of town :) And because I was asked for some recs/links, here we go:

Alec/Ames White

Yeah, I know. It shouldn't work. But I've found two (only two *sob*) stories where the author makes it work so well it's incredible.

Alive - by [livejournal.com profile] runedgirl (the Lynsey half *g*)

This is a stunning piece of fiction. It's hot, twisted, angsty, painful; an absolutely beautiful story. *draws hearts around it*

Chimera - by [livejournal.com profile] jaguarcaine. (Note: Mpreg)

Also an incredible story that will break you apart and then put you back together again. And hell, if Manticore could make Gill Girls and Lizard Men, why not men who could get pregnant?

Sam/Alec (xover with Supernatural)

Nine Lives, Cat's Eyes - by [livejournal.com profile] veronamay. This is hot like fire, but it's threaded with bittersweet and tears. My favorite of the Sam/Alec stories.

Pillars of Salt - by [livejournal.com profile] crazywritinfool. This is the first of two stories in a (sadly) unfinished series; the link takes you to the part one of story one.

Sam's pain from missing Dean is a palpable, physical thing all through the story.

Until Morale Improves, the Beatings Will Continue - also by [livejournal.com profile] crazywritinfool. This is the second story in the Pulseverse.

Me and My Shadow - by [livejournal.com profile] rivers_bend. Awesome, awesome Alec-voice. Hot, sexy, bittersweet.

Mortal Wounds - by [livejournal.com profile] thecoinbikini. Small bit of what was supposed to have been a larger/longer story; I don't think the author ever finished it, unfortunately.

Another Looking Glass and it's sequel, The Broken Mirror - by [livejournal.com profile] albydarned. The first is Sam/Dean/Alec; the second is primarily Sam/Alec.

*sighs* And this concludes our tour through Kim's favorite (slash) Dark Angel and Dark Angel/Supernatural stories. I have some Max/Alec stuff bookmarked on Delicious; just look for the pairings. (I have to be in a certain mood to read Max/Alec, and I haven't read any in a while.)

Hope y'all enjoy--and for god's sake, if anyone sees this and knows of some that I've missed, PLEASE let me know :)
