I... don't know, so far. I mean, I want to smack Sam for not telling Dean he was back. But okay, I can get past that.

I really don't want this to turn into the Campbell show :(

I'm mad at Sam and I'm mad at Bobby. Did they learn NOTHING from the past five years? Keeping secrets and assuming/making decisions for the other without consulting them is NOT the way to do things. *growl*

Yes! when has Dean EVER suggested that he wanted a "normal" life? Throughout the history of the show, I honestly cannot think of one single instance when he SAID he wanted a normal life. Even the ep in S2 with the Djinn...he liked it okay, but didn't trust it, and didn't want it at the expense of those he'd saved.

I just don't get it.

I want S1/S2 boys back. Now. *pouts*

I suspect they make the antidote from Djinn-venom?

But if that's the case, then wouldn't they have kept the djinn they used to make the original batch of antidote? Why would they need another one?

From: [identity profile] aproposofnothin.livejournal.com
Not if the djinn dies during (or as a consequence of) the extraction process, they'd need to keep replenishing their supply.

Or maybe they're actually in league with the djinn and were just "fighting them off" to make it look good for Dean. *shrug* There's clearly something hinky going on & my ideas range from ethically dubious to downright nefarious. :)

Judging from the rate they were bumping people off, djinn seem to have plenty of venom to spare; would it be like milking a snake? (Bizarre mental image...) It's always possible that they need her to make anti-venom.

But the reason that I'm so dubious is because of how sneaky the Campbells are about it. If they just needed her to make more antidote, then why hide it from Sam and Dean? It just seems too shady for them to have a legitimate reason for it.

I'm--yeah. I don't know. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that this is just a bump during transition, but I don't like the tone right now. I don't like that Sam seems to have lost his empathy toward victims, and I don't like that they're split up AGAIN, and that Sam has that stylin' car... that's just.

I feel really, really let down right now, actually.

I will fully admit to having the thought "perhaps this is why you shouldn't let your leads get married" - and I'm not so tinhatty that I think they were actually doing the nasty or anything.

(As a producer? I WOULD SO ask my actors to do that if it made this much difference in the show.)

The show has always been about Sam and Dean. I think those Campbells will turn out to be up to no good. I am pretty sure TPTB know better than to spring a family on us.

Yeah, I don't know. Maybe they'll turn out to be good guys...but for now, the show doesn't even seem to be about Sam and Dean. I really don't know WHO it's supposed to be about, after watching that :(

I think everything they are doing with Sam is intentional. There is something really wrong with him. I see a mirror theme in the opening with what looks like glass or a mirror breaking and the word Supernatural being a mirror image for awhile. And then in the advertisement for next week I saw the word Friday momentarily reverse the letters i and r. I think it has to do with the comment that Sam made about Dean caring, while Sam didn't. Sam seemed very detached. Even in the hug, he couldn't quite connect. And he has some of Lucifer's mannerisms.

Sam did not seem very Sam-like to me.

Perspective is so hinky. I absolutely loved it. Dean looked freakin' great, and so did Sam. I like what they are setting up - and that's what it is, a set up.

There wasn't a lack of chemistry to me - it was more like they were feeling each other out, getting familiar with each other again. Which is obviously difficult considering they've both changed.

The only thing I didn't like was that Dean was a little too ambivalent towards Lisa. He looked happy in those pictures!

And yeah, grandpa. Something is up with that dude. I was half expecting Dean to give a Winchester! reminder when he was going on about the Campbells.

I liked it. But I wanted to like it going in. Its the beginning of a new journey that I'm totally stoked for.

I didn't hate it (and please don't think I did). I was expecting there to be some bumps in the transition, I just. Wasn't prepared for there to be a whole *family* of Campbells, and I'm angry with Sam (and Bobby) for presuming Dean shouldn't be told. So he "got out", that doesn't mean he was truly happy.

I'm not giving up on it (Christ, I've made it this far, might as well stick with it a while longer), but I hope it kind of settles back onto track with Sam-n-Dean again, together, in the Impala.

hhahaha. I actually shouted "WINCHESTER!" at the tv during that thing about the Campbells. Someone missed a good line there.

I'd be less bothered by the set up feel if Sam had been handled differently, I think.

Like, he didn't seem that Sam-like to me, but Dean didn't seem to pick up on it. So either we're supposed to believe, as the audience, that Dean's instincts trump ours and that Sam really is more or less Sam, and thus not part of the plot, or that Dean has become a complete and total moron - which they showed he hadn't completely given up the hunting life in the start of the ep, so that's unrealistic - and isn't noticing how un-Sam Sam seemed.

Either Sam is actually properly Sam, in which case I want him to feel more like SAM (and less like Jared) or if he is part of the set up also and thus isn't totally Sam, I want Dean to be showing more obvious signs of suspicion/distrust, even if he's keeping it from Sam.

It just didn't work for me the way they set it out.

I mean, I'll keep watching, to see where they go. But that's coasting on my existing interest in the show. (And the fact that my mom wants to watch it with me.) If I'd been more on the fence about it, this episode would've completely failed to grab me and make me go 'yes, this is still the show I love, I want to know what happens next.'

Exactly. I'm totally behind the that's-not-Sam-theory -- my first words when he came on screen was "he still has Lucifer eyes!" -- but... really, Dean doesn't pick up any of this? He doesn't do any "is it really you?" tests, just accepts the salt and holy water as good, and moves on? No, "Dude, I get that being in the Cage will do a number on a guy, but you're a total dick now?" How... average.

I liked it, sweetie. It felt off and left me very disquieted but I think that was exactly what they wanted it to do.

Sam is broken, there is an essential part of his humanity missing and he knows it. It's what he won't come right out and say to Dean there at the end but it's there.

The Campbells are as creepy as heck and I don't trust them a bit. The mirror, like our perceptions, is broken. I think we'll be given the pieces to fit it back together again over the next few episodes.

I like Lisa, a lot. I think I'll like Ben, too, if we're given a chance to know him better. And, like I said before, I think they really did mean to weird us the heck out. It was a conscious choice on Show's part.

*hugs*

Oh don't worry. They're totally setting the Campbells up to the bad guys and Sam will need to get Dean for backup and take out their own "family". Um, I'm extrapolating that on Skinner Grandpa Campbell kidnapping the Djinn instead of killing her.

But I totally agree with wanting to smack people for not telling Dean Sam was alive.
