hhahaha. I actually shouted "WINCHESTER!" at the tv during that thing about the Campbells. Someone missed a good line there.

I'd be less bothered by the set up feel if Sam had been handled differently, I think.

Like, he didn't seem that Sam-like to me, but Dean didn't seem to pick up on it. So either we're supposed to believe, as the audience, that Dean's instincts trump ours and that Sam really is more or less Sam, and thus not part of the plot, or that Dean has become a complete and total moron - which they showed he hadn't completely given up the hunting life in the start of the ep, so that's unrealistic - and isn't noticing how un-Sam Sam seemed.

Either Sam is actually properly Sam, in which case I want him to feel more like SAM (and less like Jared) or if he is part of the set up also and thus isn't totally Sam, I want Dean to be showing more obvious signs of suspicion/distrust, even if he's keeping it from Sam.

It just didn't work for me the way they set it out.

I mean, I'll keep watching, to see where they go. But that's coasting on my existing interest in the show. (And the fact that my mom wants to watch it with me.) If I'd been more on the fence about it, this episode would've completely failed to grab me and make me go 'yes, this is still the show I love, I want to know what happens next.'
