farewell, weekend
Oct. 19th, 2009 04:02 amSo, it's 4:03a and I'm awake. Not because I'm not tired, I just can't sleep. Stupid insomnia. *kicks it*
Had a pretty nice weekend, all told. Lots of sleep on Saturday (and doing very little else) and then on Sunday my friend Mickey came down with her S3 disks of Primeval. She, Matthew and I sat and watched all three disks while making snarky comments and eating homemade slow-cooker chili and chips. It was a really nice time, and Mickey gets serious kudos for making it through 10 hours of television viewing with my kid (always a challenge, but he likes to 'show off' a bit when there are visitors here). Afterward -- all three of us disgusted by the fact that they canceled the show -- Matthew showered and headed for bed while Mickey filled me in on all the happenings of the property room.
From what she's told me I'm so glad I'm out of there. It sounds like chaos that isn't improving with time.
I am SO behind on wishing people a happy birthday! BAD KIM. *smacks hand* So, to that end, I want to wish a belated, but heartfelt Happy Birthday to:
serotonin_storm,
memphis86,
zortified,
noelql,
cjmarlowe,
epeeblade,
dine, and
musiclover03. I hope you all had wonderful days full of good things, and I hope you have a great year :)
Also, a great big thank you to
thenyxie for my halloween-y bat! Thanks, honey :)
And finally, the latest meme going around:
The problem with LJ: We all think we are so close, but really we know nothing about one another. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away.
Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you.
Hit me :)

Date: 2009-10-19 11:37 pm (UTC)1. I actually grew up in two places: Battle Creek, MI, is where I was born and lived for the first 12 years of my life. My mom remarried after my folks divorced, and her husband's company transferred him to their Phoenix, AZ, office. I lived there for the next ten years, and love Phoenix. I actually think of it as home as much, or more than, Battle Creek (even though I haven't been to Phoenix in gosh, 14 years).
2. Not to stay in Phoenix when my mom and sister moved to San Diego. I have a feeling my life would've gone a lot differently.
3. Hmm. That's a hard question. Maybe...encouraging Doug (my ex) to take up contract work again. Ultimately it led to our divorce, yes, but I think that was for the best since neither of us were happy but neither of us would've done anything about it, either, I don't think.
4. Dude, I have a list *g* I would pay off all my debt, first. Period. Then I would start looking for a house to buy, in Wallingford, CT. This, specifically, because there is a school there specifically for children with autistic disorders from K-12, with the student/teacher ratio an unheard of 5:1 in the classroom. After that, I would get my family settled/taken care of -- pay off my sister's house, get my aunt moved, and so on, and then I would start getting my friends taken care of. Depending on how large the amount won was, I have some vacation "dreams" -- Christmas for me and Matthew, and my mom/stepdad, sister and her family at Disney World; a cruise/visit to the Galapagos Islands for Matthew and I, and possibly a world cruise for us as well :) (Oh, and substantial donations in there to the Humane Society, Red Cross, Salvation Army.)
Basically, aside from a house and good education for my kid, and a couple of really nice vacations? I just want to take care of my friends and family. I remain hopeful :)
