AP INVESTIGATION: Palin children traveled on state

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Gov. Sarah Palin charged the state for her children to travel with her, including to events where they were not invited, and later amended expense reports to specify that they were on official business....Read the rest of the article here.

And by way of [livejournal.com profile] raynedanser, a quote from Sarah Palin (I do not know the original source of the quote):

[Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin says she supports a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. Palin said she was "tolerant" of gays and said she supported certain legal protections for same-sex couples, like hospital visitation rights.

"I have voted along with the vast majority of Alaskans who had the opportunity to vote to amend our Constitution defining marriage as between one man and one woman. I wish on a federal level that's where we would go. I don't support gay marriage," Palin said. She said she believed traditional marriage is the foundation for strong families.]

Translation? She's a fucking bigot. She doesn't want to come out and say it in words that can be pointed to specifically, but she's a bigot.

How can people even think this way?? I do NOT understand it.

She does make me sick. I saw mention of the differences between her views and McCain's over the weekend and wanted to puke.

I heard a thing today on the radio talking about McCain/Palin and tuned it out (as I do so many political ads these days) until the wind-down, when it got to something like, "Pro-Life and Pro-Gun", and I thought, "how the hell can someone claim to be PRO LIFE, if they're pro-gun? Don't those two kind of cancel each other out??"

*headdesk*

I have such issues with the pro-life side of things. I don't believe just because one is anti-abortion, one is automatically pro-life.

They're pro-death penalty, they have no concern about the welfare and well-being of people in this country. They're pro-ware, they don't care about education or health care.

You can't neglect the living and call yourself pro-life. You just can't.

I'm so tired of this election. I wanna go on vacation.

There's a state constitutional amendment on the ballot defining "marriage" for me this year, and I'm supposed to walk my sex and culture students through a discussion about it tomorrow. It should be VERY interesting. And when I say interesting, I may have to go weep in a corner when I'm done. Maybe I'm selling them short, we'll see.

Bigotry is as American as apple pie. It's one of the things that drove people to this country in the first place lo those many years ago, and has become an institution in so many parts of the country. And of course, it's passed down like a fine family traditions in some places, too.

It sucks. But it's getting better. A little at a time, slowly. I mean, segregation was the law of the land until not too terribly long ago, as far as a country's age goes.

Every time I hear the polls saying that Obama is losing his lead, I choke. Just can't understand why anyone would believe this woman is ready to be President. I mean, that's what the job is, right? 2nd in command? That's sooooo scary!
