I know I say this every time, but.

As much as I love Sam/Alec, it breaks my heart, reading it. Because if Sam is with Alec, he's not with Dean. And the only reason he wouldn't be with Dean...is if Dean's dead. Gah.

Yes, Matthew and I have been watching Dark Angel again (S2, natch), which always, ALWAYS leads me to me (re re re re re)re-reading the Sam/Alec stories I've saved and/or bookmarked.

*sniffles* And now, I need to go to bed. G'night, LJ.

No, I know that's not true (mostly), but sometimes it feels that way.

Comcast guy came out, fiddled with things, hooked/unhooked, ran his diagnostic(s) and dammit, it's NOT the modem. Meh. I'd really hoped, but my router is seven years old; I guess it's probably lived long past its original expiry date.

So for now, I will continue to "borrow" wireless from whichever neighbor it is I'm borrowing from, and Matthew will just have to deal without XBox Live. He was kind of sulky about it, but I pointed out that he still have cable TV, and he can still play his games--he just can't be world wide doing it. Good grief, but kids feel entitled these days, don't they?

Hard on the heels of the cable news, and also prompting the subject line, I got a "thanks, but no thanks" letter from the school district for a clerical position I'd applied for. :( And the woman who called me this morning about Matthew's bunk beds, and set up a time to come look at them, called me back half an hour before she was supposed to be here and said "something's come up, can I call you about them later". I said sure (what else am I going to say?), but figure it's unlikely I'm going to hear from her again.

I guess on the bright side of things, I got my bedroom vacuumed, tidied the living room, made some progress on laundry, and got the dishwasher loaded/running. Yay?

All on 2.5hrs of sleep. *falls over*

Alec/Ames White

Yeah, I know. It shouldn't work. But I've found two (only two *sob*) stories where the author makes it work so well it's incredible.

Alive - by runedgirl (the Lynsey half *g*)

This is a stunning piece of fiction. It's hot, twisted, angsty, painful; an absolutely beautiful story. *draws hearts around it*

Chimera - by jaguarcaine. (Note: Mpreg)

Also an incredible story that will break you apart and then put you back together again. And hell, if Manticore could make Gill Girls and Lizard Men, why not men who could get pregnant?


Sam/Alec (xover with Supernatural)

Nine Lives, Cat's Eyes - by veronamay. This is hot like fire, but it's threaded with bittersweet and tears. My favorite of the Sam/Alec stories.

Pillars of Salt - by crazywritinfool. This is the first of two stories in a (sadly) unfinished series; the link takes you to the part one of story one.

Sam's pain from missing Dean is a palpable, physical thing all through the story.

Until Morale Improves, the Beatings Will Continue - also by crazywritinfool. This is the second story in the Pulseverse.

Me and My Shadow - by rivers_bend. Awesome, awesome Alec-voice. Hot, sexy, bittersweet.

Mortal Wounds - by thecoinbikini. Small bit of what was supposed to have been a larger/longer story; I don't think the author ever finished it, unfortunately.

Another Looking Glass and it's sequel, The Broken Mirror - by albydarned. The first is Sam/Dean/Alec; the second is primarily Sam/Alec.

*sighs* And this concludes our tour through Kim's favorite (slash) Dark Angel and Dark Angel/Supernatural stories. I have some Max/Alec stuff bookmarked on Delicious; just look for the pairings. (I have to be in a certain mood to read Max/Alec, and I haven't read any in a while.)
