The plagiarist is deleting comments people are leaving that call her out on her plagiarizing. Very classy, yeah?

Heh. In the time it took me to write up this post, she's deleted my comment and the three that came before it. But I have screencaps, oh yes I do.

Why can't people just write their own stuff, and not steal from others? Good grief.

ETA: The story is down now, and the plagiarist is claiming that it was all just a 'social experiment', because she wanted to see how fandom would react. *boggles* Her 'explanation' is here. I find it a bit hard to believe, myself.

Yeah, that's what blew my mind--because people seldom do it in the same fandom. I mean, even as minor a transition from FPS to RPS, at least the names are different. But this one... it's mind-boggling.

Hey! :D So like. Sorry for stalking you. I'm a little fixated on the plagiarism fiasco going on over at wincest and I keep switching from the comm to the plagiarist's journal to watch her delete all of the comments. It's not funny because she's a thief, but I'm probably taking too much enjoyment out of the creative and sarcastic comments people are posting on her lj before she deletes them. :P

As I understand it (not that I *believe* it, but that's something else), it wasn't an assignment. Just an idea that 'came' to her when her supposed professor was talking about how bad plagiarism is.

(I know for me, every syllabus from every professor I have contains a couple paragraphs about This Is A Bad Thing and Here Are The Potential Ramifications.)

Personally, I think she wanted attention...and unfortunately she picked what is probably the one guaranteed, fool-proof way of getting it -- because fandom does take plagiarism seriously.

That is some of the lamest backtracking I've ever heard.

Anyone who has set foot on a college campus within the last fifteen years should have found this unnecessary to explore further. I've had prof.s devote huge chunks of course time to discussing plagiarism, even in subjects that don't require much creative writing.
