They just called school off for tomorrow. That makes #11. ELEVEN.

We still have five inches of snow on the ground from Monday (and there was no school Tuesday, btw); we're expecting another four inches tonight. (I know. It's nothing compared to what some of y'all have. But we're already nearly a foot over what we normally get for the whole season. o_O)

OMG 11?!? We've only had 3? And we're about a foot over our regular snow fall.

Etown city schools haven't missed nearly as much as the county schools, either. I think they've missed three or four.

We're hovering somewhere around 20" of snowfall since Dec. 1, which is just *crazy* for us.

BWAH We buried 20" about mid-January. ;-) But yeah, I know, it's all about perspective. We're SUPPOSED to get that, not you.

Not to say that I don't still think it's funny though.

Hey, I'll be the first to say that sometimes it seems silly for them canceling snow when the roads genuinely don't seem that bad. BUT, we're right near city limits, and I remember when we lived at our other house--the plows and salt trucks didn't come through there with anything approaching regularity. And if the buses can't pass safely over routes for the whole county, *bam*, that's it.

The thing is, even with only a smidge of snow, it can be just as slick as with a lot - it's just a different kind. So yeah, I can see it. :D

Particularly if the idiot people in the area don't really know how to judge conditions or drive on bad roads.

(Yes, Pittsburghers, I am looking at you. Snow. Ice. Hill. THINK ABOUT IT FOR A MOMENT.)

I hate snow - one of the biggest reasons I don't want to move back to KS. :(

And man, KS has had a rough winter this year, too. :(

It's really crazy--like I was telling Den up above, we've had about 20" of snow here in Etown, since Dec. 1st. Now considering that we normally have 8-10" of snow for the whole SEASON...it's insane.

Yesterday my mom said they were expecting ten inches today - *boos*

Eleven days blows my mind - if b. has ten unexcused absences he has to re-do the whole year. Every state has had more this year - NY is at three times their normal.

::snuggles you::

Well, unexcused absences, yeah. But that's different from the school system calling school off. They still have to make up the days, obviously, but they're not counted as absences, unexcused or otherwise.

This is a southerly storm -- they're getting hammered further south of here, and west of here. I'm glad we're only (hah) getting four inches. (It's been snowing since about 3p. It's STILL snowing.)

I hate snow so much that just the thought of living in KS and spending an hour to ice pick/shovel the car out to drive him to school nearly had me in tears. :( And KS does not believe in snow days (that's why God invented snow plows and salt). I only had one - ever, in my entire 12 years in the school system.

I think they're a lot more liberal with snowdays now than when we were kids -- we didn't ever have many snowdays either (the only time that comes to mind was in 1978, when we had a blizzard that dumped 4 feet of snow on us).

I know KS has had some snow days lately, because I've been keeping an eye on the areas that seem to be getting hit harder than usual.

This feels like I should start one of those stories...

"Well, when I was a kid..." LOL!

Thinking of you, BB!

"When I was a kid I had to walk five miles uphill to school, both ways! In the driving snow! Even when it was July!" *g*

Like that? ;)

Then I guess you don't want to hear that it's a humid 79F and I just told my kid to open all of her windows to air out her room...

Sorry. I know I'm evil. ;P

NO. I DO NOT WANT TO HEAR THAT OMG.

Though, hearing that it's warm and comfy somewhere, not as bad as when it's about 18F (with a windchill of 8, like it is right now) and having your mom call you up to complain how cold it is at 40-something.

My littlest sister's public school had so many snow days this year they're cancelling spring break. She's quite disappointed, mostly because this is her senior year! Gah!

I'm so sick of the cold weather. We're possibly getting snow tomorrow in Atlanta, again. The city might shut down, but my company only shuts down for the apocalypse (aka never), so I'll be walking through it to work! Exciting!
