1. It's another gorgeous day outside, so I have all the windows open, airing the house out.

2. If you're writing polyamory in a story, you should at least spell it correctly.

3. If you include "this probably sucks, and it's unbeta'd" in your notes/headers, I'm going to pass right on by. Why bother, if you're telling me right off the bat that you, the author, think it sucks?

4. I really like reading H50 (slash) fic, but I don't think I have it in me to write it. At least not right now. Maybe when I know the characters a little better.

5. Matthew has WAY too much Star Wars shit. We have, however, figured out how we're listing it on eBay, and I did the research on how much, and what's being bid on, etc. I think he's going to have to give me a portion of whatever he gets for doing all the legwork on this!

*laughs* You know, we may THINK our work may suck. We aren't sure, we're nervous, we always, always think it could be better than it is.

But to announce it to the world? It's like going on a blind date, and starting it off by saying, "I kinda suck and I'm sure there are better dates out there, so I couldn't be bothered to wash my good shirt or clean up my shoes or, you know, bathe or anything. Hope you like me anyway, but you probably won't."

Happy 5000th, woman! WHEW!

Oh, dude. I'm still nervous, always, when posting stories. I go over it several times after finishing it, and always try to get at least one other pair of eyes to look it over as well. But am I going to announce to the world that I think it (might) suck? Oh, hell, no. (And honestly, if I was so concerned I felt moved to announce its suckage I would MAKE SURE TO FIND A BETA OMG.)

I saw a post to one of my comms yesterday where in the WARNINGS the author warned for "spelling errors and bad grammar". Seriously. And today's "it sucks" was also in the warnings. I think the newest crop of writers/fans doesn't understand what 'warnings' are really supposed to be.

I like your analogy about blind dates, though. *g*

5000 and still young! Er, or something? :) (How is it possible I've been here this long, and made that many posts? Eeep!)

ishdkbgdfg eep! I totally announce to the world that something sucks and is unbeta'd. Not a big bang or anything I don't think (suddenly nervous now that I've done it with those, too), but something like salt_burn_porn where I have to fling up a pile of poo at the last second in order to make the deadline. I want to make sure everyone knows I KNOW that it sucks, not that I think it's acceptable the way it is when I haven't had a chance to read it over or make it make sense. I'm just so self-conscious! I also frequently say things are insane and no one should read them if they're really kinky/weird in some way, because I KNOW most people aren't going to be interested in them and I want to make sure to warn them away before anyone scars themselves for life!

The salt_burn_porn, and the porn battle posts, things like that...that's different. Those are timed, and meant to be done on the fly. But if you're posting to a comm like j2_au, or wincest, or whatever... it's just really off-putting, y'know?

I totally didn't mean to make you feel bad, or make you nervous or whatever. *hugs you*

Really, it's when it's part of the header IN THE WARNINGS, that's when I sit up and take notice. Because it's like, oooookay.

Gah. I'm sorry! :(

nononoooo, don't be sorry! It's fine! I'm not upset or anything! I'm curious now if I've ever done it in a comm or not. Probably not?? IDK, when I do it I WANT it to be offputting, so only people who don't mind if something I write is unbeta'd or lame will read it.
