Just how long, exactly, is Daniel going to be "ascended"? WHY ON EARTH was that written into the storyline, anyway? Did Michael Shanks need time off, or something? More to the point, WHY DIDN'T ANY OF YOU TELL ME?? Oi.

Random, non-spoilery question: the thigh holster thing. I remember it being this HUGE thing with SGA, like everyone swooning over how hot John and/or Rodney looked with the thigh holster...but, um. That was not exactly a new fashion statement. They'd been rocking the thigh holster since, oh, S1 of SG-1...so, wtf? Granted I've only ever really been on the fringes of either of the Stargate fandom(s), but I really don't remember any fuss at all about SG-1 and their (oh-so-sexy) thigh holsters, whereas I remember with SGA you couldn't get away from people going on and on about it.

What gives? Anyone?

I really should be working on Big Bang edits. I really just want to go to bed.

Apparently Michael Shanks wanted off the show because he felt his character wasn't being given enough screen time or something? But the fans said OH HALE NO and campaigned to bring him back! I assume that you've just finished season 5 or are not far into season 6, yes?

I finished disk one of S6, so yeah. Four eps into the season.

"Meridian" just about KILLED me. And then Matthew decided he wanted to watch it, so I watched it again. Twice, back-to-back. NEVER AGAIN, omg.

I like Jonas a lot, but the team feels really different w/out Daniel.

OH MY GOD YES MERIDIAN. I was SOBBING. D: D: D:

He does come back. You see him sometimes during S6 and then he does come back for real in S7.

THANK YOU FOR LOVING SG-1. It's my favorite in the Stargate franchise, but everyone on my flist was all squeeing about SGA and I had barely anyone to love SG1 with! The thigh-holster thing never made sense to me, either, but I have a good feeling that a lot of SGA viewers never actually watched SG1. Sad, but true.

Daniel. Sigh. As [livejournal.com profile] annella said, Daniel makes a couple of appearances in season 6 and then comes back full time in season 7. Disc 2 should have "Abyss" on it, which is one of the mothers of all Daniel/Jack <3 episodes. And I don't even mean slashy (but you can if you want it to), but just in an OMGJACKANDDANIEL!!! way, because that's how I was for 5 seasons before he left.

Anyway, Daniel stays on from s7 to the end of the series (10 seasons), but there are other cast changes in the future. I don't want to spoil much, but at the very least... Daniel. *SWOON*

Hee! Man, I first discovered SG-1 back in...ugh. 2000-ish. A friend -- I don't even remember WHO, anymore -- sent me some VHS tapes with some eps on them, and Doug and I were hooked. But I never got past S3, for various and assorted reasons, though I kept trying (I have a bad habit of having to go back and start from the beginning). I've owned through S7 since Christmas 2004, but S6 and S7 are (well, were, I opened S6 last night) still in factory packaging. *G*

I got hauled into SGA by...argh. I don't remember who did that, either *g* But it was just getting started, so there wasn't as much catching up to do, and it didn't seem as daunting. Kept up with that through S2, and into the beginning of S3, but even there Matthew and I fell by the wayside with it. (We're neither of us very good at keeping up with 'live' television shows. Supernatural remains the fluke at this point.) But as much as I love Sheppard and McKay, Jack and Daniel were always my first love *g*

It looks like the latter seasons of SG-1 are available for viewing off imdb.com (probably routed to hulu.com), so I'll keep going after S7. See what's what *g*

OMG SERIOUSLY, you didn't know Daniel ascended?? You have NEVER SEEN the Jack/Daniel GLORY AND FANTASTICNESS that is Abyss?? I...have no words! You must skip ahead and watch it immediately OMG!! *flail!* (I wrote a post about the wonder that is Abyss. That episode is better than a sparkly pony, dude. I will have to go find that post now, because you made me all nostalgic.)

Nope. Well, not NO, just. Not really? I knew he was gone, and I'd heard here and there people talking about ascension, but I didn't apply it to the character (if that makes any sense at all?). So let's just say it was a MAJOR shock. Gah.

And nope, haven't seen the Jack/Daniel GLORY AND FANTASTICNESS that is Abyss *g* But I think it's on disk 2, which is my next disk, so hopefully tomorrow :)

Also? LOVE your icon! Where do I find me something wonderful like that, pray tell?

eeee, you will LOVE IT. And then you will understand why I didn't exaggerate in the least. *g*

As for the icon, I'm sorry that I can't help you there in terms of finding something like it; X made it for me several years ago, from a piece of her art, so it's not shareable.

I can't speak for anyone else but for me, in regards to the thigh holster thing, I just found them more attractive on Sheppard and McKay than anyone on SG-1. :)

I'm not quite sure why thigh holsters became such a big thing in SGA, as they've been around a long time, and visible in lots and lots of military/paramilitary shows, but I think maybe John just rocked it harder? plus, lots of SGA fans probably didn't have background familiarity with SG-1 or other military/cop shows

Ah, yes, I remember my SG-1 days:) I had gotten into the fandom RIGHT as all hell broke loose with season 6. Season 6 also has quite a few Major Davis episodes. (Major Paul Davis - also known as Pookie to those of us who wrote Paul/Jack...)

And yes, Abyss...Oddly enough, now that I think about it, Abyss reminds me of, um, every single Sam and Dean moment?
