ugh, allergies

Weather.com had a thing about allergies and the pollen count, which is apparently crazy-high right now. Like, the "normal high" pollen count (grains of pollen per cubic meter) is 120, and right now (for the Southeast states, anyway) it's 5000+. Louisville and Lexington were in the top ten highest affected areas for yesterday and today. Ick.

The worst thing about this is that unless I'm willing to turn on my a/c, I have to have the windows open. I'm not ready to turn the a/c on. It's April 14th, for heaven's sake. I need to keep the electric bill down for as long as possible. So I'm living on benedryl, which is screwing with my sleep patterns -- sometimes it makes me sleepy and sometimes it doesn't. I took two, about 45 min. ago (along with two Trazadone an hour before that). I should be passed out cold. However, I'm sitting here typing, so, yeah.

Like as not I'll be groggy and out-of-it in the morning after I get Matthew to school, which sucks, because I have stuff I need to do.

Meanwhile, I guess I'm going to fold laundry. Might as well do something, and it'll be one less thing I have to mess with later in the day, when it's hot and I'm tired. (Supposed to get up into the mid-80's the next couple of days. Joy.)

Unrelatedly, azephirin clearly hates me. Not only does she send me snippets of badfic she finds hither and yon, but tonight she sent me a link to a manip that just. Oh, my god. I'm not going to traumatize y'all by sharing the link, but. Think Sam, and a speculum, and the word 'mancunt'. O_O *I* obviously hate me, too, because I CLICKED THE FRIGGIN' LINK, and there is not enough bleach in the world.

Okay, yeah. Going to fold laundry. I think I'll finish up disc 5 of SPN S2 while I fold.

OH MY GOD THAT MANIP TOOK SOME YEARS OFF OF MY LIFE, NEGL.

I also had to respond in capslock because of it. I have become completely disillusioned with manips since being in the Supernatural fandom. People have talent, but I find some kinks go from hot to disturbing in a 0.5 seconds when transferred from story to art. Woe.

*hugs* I hope the allergies work out a little better and you stop feeling miserable soon. I've been fighting an a/c fight myself -- my roomie thinks it's like July outside and is determined to keep turning it on.

Well, and just--did you read the text that preceded the manip? Where the artist talked about "Sammy's tunnel of love" that you could WARM YOUR FEET IN, on a cold winter's night -- or something to that effect?

I'm not a huge fan of speculum anything (play, kink, whatever you care to call it). It's just not sexy to me, though to each their own. But that...GAH. Even if I was a fan, that would be enough to undo me.

It's supposed to rain some in a couple days, and cool down, as well. I'm hoping that helps with the pollen. Dude, the hood of my car (which is blue) looks GREEN, there's such a heavy layer of it there.

BOTH of your feet! Not just one! *nauseated* I can't say I've ever been on the speculum play bandwagon either, but my tolerance level zipped right down to 0 after that. @_@

Yay for rain! Your poor car. O__o I don't have allergies much, but after sprinting two miles and mowing the lawn this morning, I am so stuffed up.

In North Texas we've had pollen counts close to 10K the past couple of weeks. Our cars are covered in pollen. I have never suffered from seasonal allergies in the spring - it's always been fall that's bit me in the ass.

I am beyond miserable. I HAD to turn the A/C on because nothing was working. I've tried every allergy medication available and none of them have done much good. I'm dreading our electric bills, but it was either that or I build me a plastic bubble or buy a hazmat suit or something. Mother Nature is sooooo on my List!

I would just like to point out that when I don't supply badfic (because I haven't seen anything meeting my stringent badness requirements!), I receive emails querying whether I have ceased to love the sender. I'm just doing my part to be a good friend! :P

can you take vitamin c? there's a learning curve, since too much can cause diahhrea, but it's wonderful for allergies for me; i take 4 grams as needed, and sometimes another 4 grams 30 minutes later if the first dose doesn't help. (i'm pretty big; 280 lbs, fwiw.)

but if i take it when i don't need it, i end up running to the bathroom.

it makes hayfever season SO much better for me
