This is really, REALLY distressing. I followed a link [livejournal.com profile] serotonin_storm posted, about LJ's new search engine, thought I'd see where I find my name turn up.

I found this: http://bzrolinrolad.livejournal.com/9506.html

This person has c/p'd an entire STORY of mine. And if you look back through some of their other entries, they're copies of entries I've done -- older entries. I have no idea what to do or say here. I've commented on the entry linked above, asking why they've done this, and I've saved screen captures just in case. But--buzh? I have no idea who this person is, never seen their journal name before, nothing.

Anyone?

That is def. wtf-inducing. I say take it to LJ abuse. They're basically impersonating you.

I don't know if they're trying to impersonate me -- there's nothing saying it's their story or whatever. It's just--weird. Like, creep-me-out, weird.

I dunno, it still seems like impersonation, since they just take a bunch of your entries and pass them off like they're their thoughts or some such. Either way. *hugs* Freakish. And worse than just fic plagiarism.

Plagiarism I can at least understand (sort of). But this? They've taken 14 *random* entries of mine that range from the fic, to me making fic recs, to icon posts. It's WEIRD.

That is INSANE. :O I'd also go with 'take it to LJ abuse'!

I'm going to see if they respond to my comment, and then go from there. Altogether, there are 14 of my journal entries copied in this person's journal!

OMG! That's terrible!! So you just searched for your lj name and found this imposter? OMG! Can't you block or report them or something? Is it maybe some kind of bot? I have no idea, I just know I'd freak the hell out. I hope you get it sorted!!

I have no idea if it's a bot, or not. The journal was created in November, 2008 and has 37 entries in it. 14 of which appear to be MINE. I have no idea who the other 23 might belong to. o_O

If they're just c&p-ing fic entries, they might simply be "archiving" them, and don't know about giving credit. I have no idea, though, if they're taking non-fic entries as well. Creepy as hell. If they don't respond in a timely manner to your comment, I'd definitely go to LJ Abuse. Ick. :/

It's weird, though -- because it's like, random entries. One where I asked about how long Sam and Jess were together, the post I made about Heath Ledger's death, some icons I made, some pictures I posted links to... all random stuff -- and the one story.

14 entries of mine, altogether. Which makes me kind of cranky, actually.

Yeah, I...can't really figure this one out. What the hell? Weird bot-type thing? IDEK. D: CREEPY AND WEIRD. I'd...go straight to LJ Abuse. It's too strange not to.

Creepy and weird, for sure. I've reported it as a bot, and will keep an eye on it; hopefully LJ will make it go away. *kicks the idjits* And I was going to go to bed at a reasonable hour, too! Now it's nearly 3a, I have to be back up at 6:30... *sigh* Guess I might as well stay up for the haul. And try not to be too creeped out.

Is it a bot?

I dunno--how do you know? The journal's been around for a year; there are 37 entries. 14 of those are mine. No friends listed aside from self, though there are some comments to some of the earlier entries.

Ugh. Why me?

What the hell? Either they're a really shit plagiarist, or they thought, "Hey, you know what would be fun? Reading this story with absolutely no paragraph breaks!" and just don't know how to use the private entry setting.

Date: 2009-10-23 05:59 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] mickeym.livejournal.com
They've copied 14 of my entries! Just--like, copy/paste all the text, but there's no hint of any of the links that are in some of the posts, no paragraph/line breaks, nothing! I don't GET it. And it's making me feel kind of weird.

From: [identity profile] nowadventuring.livejournal.com
Perhaps it's some kind of really pointless bot? I can't think of any reason an actual human being would do that, other than maybe to see if anyone noticed. They couldn't really... get anything from it.

Date: 2009-10-23 06:43 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] mickeym.livejournal.com
Yeah, [livejournal.com profile] rahaeli commented below that it's very likely a bot, so I've reported it to the abuse team people and now I'm going to sit back and try not to be completely creeped out. Ugh!

It's very, very creepy, yes. Especially since they all seem to be really random entries they've copied. I don't get it.

Especially the irony of reposting the entries about the guy who plagiarized Tham.

*shakes head*

YES! And the "RIP, Heath" post, which is from, what, January of 2008? Sheesh.

From: [identity profile] rahaeli.livejournal.com
It's almost certainly a bot, looking at the various other characteristics -- commenting is useless; there's no human being paying attention. Open up an Abuse request with the URLs to your entries and the entries in the other account, and they'll make it go away.

I reported it as a bot; now I'll keep an eye on it and see what's what. :)

Thanks, darlin' :) *snugs*

OMG..That is so weird.. and creepy..

Heath died nearly 2 years ago now.. and they say for examples of their work and link to your lj...It's as thought they like your thoughts so much, they think they are you..I can understand them copying the story cos that has happened before to quite a few people.. but the other stuff???

Glad you have reported it..

Hugs
Julie

That's what made it so creepy--some of the posts they copied were time-stamps for things going on then, like Heath Ledger's death, and some stuff here on LJ. Weirdness. And hopefully over :)

Thanks!

No. I was pretty creeped out by it, earlier. Ugh. Now I'm just SLEEPY, because funny enough, I didn't sleep last night.

How're y'all doing over there in the sick-house? :) *snugs*

We're doing okay. Though dad came for an unexpected visit and it was the first time he's seen me since this hit. So my tiny improvement was wasted when he looked so sad :(

I would have to agree about reporting them. They have a completely empty journal, profile, etc... I was willing to concede that maybe they just liked your stories and wanted them where they could easily find them, but regular entries? SO not cool. Also, the formatting is borked...

I wonder if they're just a bot? But totally report their ass.

Yeah, I think it's a bot, because of this:
http://bzrolinrolad.livejournal.com/2009/10/05/

I know some people are really stupid, but somehow I don't think someone trying to steal your work would be quite that stupid.
