Kids Pulled From Transgendered Teacher's Classroom

The comment/quotes I like the best (plz to be noting the sarcasm in that) are:

A teacher's gender reassignment surgery has caught the attention of some parents who want to know why the school district didn't notify them ahead of time about the change.

and

Some parents told Travis Unified School District that they feel like their rights to know were violated.

And...why do they feel like it's any of their business one way or the other? What the hell difference does it make? Seriously. If the teacher is a good teacher, their gender is irrelevant, and it's their own private business if they were unhappy as one gender and felt they needed to be another gender.

Ugh. People really annoy me at times. How would those parents feel if someone was demanding to know the whys and wherefores of something intensely private and personal going on in THEIR lives?

HOLY SHIT.

People and their prejudices and ignorance will never cease to amaze me. Seriously. What the flying fuck is wrong with people?!?!

I KNOW. I just can't even fathom feeling like it's (your) right to know something like that. Unless it's illegal, or impacts their job performance... no.

Exactly!! And seriously - kids don't get as much credit as they should. They wouldn't even think it's a big deal if the parents didn't act like such fucktards.

I always love the whole, "How will I explaaaaiiin this to my child?" Kids are not as remotely confused by this sort of thing as adults are.

Yeah. And kids seldom care -- until their parents get their influence into them.

People are stupid, end of statement.

A friend of mine who is FTM actually taught second grade in LA for several years. He was mostly done with his transition, though, so I think it was easier having been a done deal. There were rumblings from a couple of parents, but the school was pretty much like, "We support our teachers, so STFU," and the kids loved him.

What I love is how these parents think they're entitled to this person's confidential health information. One can only imagine how furious these people would be if someone attempted to force them to disclose whatever their recent medical treatments have been, but when it comes to transgendered person? Well, obviously they don't deserve a right to privacy!

Yeah, exactly. It comes down to the same thing with gay rights -- why the hell does anyone think they have ANY right to what goes on between consenting adults in private?

And you KNOW if someone said to one of those complainers "hey, you come in contact with _______, you need to tell us all about _______." They'd be all up in arms over their right to privacy.

Grrr. Stupid people.

Hey! Day after tomorrow! WHEEE! (Oh, it's $23, I think, to get in to the aquarium. And are you going to meet us there, you said? I can call you when we're about an hour out, or... hey. I'll email you tonight :) Or find you on YM.)

See, it's because the general assumption seems to be that gay or transgendered = pedophile, so obviously the parents have a right to know if a 'deviant' like that is teaching their child.

There's a reason I'm a misanthrope: because of people. Jesus Christ on a pogo stick. *headdesk*

~_^

Someone's gender is not anyone's business.

I agree with you, that if the teacher is good at their job, then why does it even matter?

Those idiots have no right to know >.< Nothing was fucking violated.

Complete fucktards.
