I KNEW the writers were going to (try and) make us feel sorry for Bela. And it certainly makes the whole ghost ship thing make a hell of a lot of sense. It was a cheap shot, though, at us and at Bela's character. For the entire season they've played her off as the devil-may-care-do-things-my-way bitch who didn't need anybody and didn't want anybody. I don't even like Bela's character, and I think the writers did her a disservice by having her crying and acting so fragile at the end.

I can't say I'm sorry she's gone, though.

The whole thing with the "Doc Benton" was creepy as hell. Did anyone else find themselves wondering, as he was screaming and pushing at the refrigerator door, what might happen if he ever does get out? He's not terribly sane now...but locked away down there like that...WILL he die, eventually? The immortality only lasts as long as he, uh, replaces body parts, right? And I'm assuming he probably needs oxygen? Or...not? Gah. CREEPY. (And of course the whole beginning spawned a five minute quickie lecture for Matthew on what organ harvesting/organ theft was, and whether or not maggots would hurt/tickle, while doing their thing. *shudder*) Also, did anyone else jump, literally, when the gunshots happened *just* as Doc reached in to scoop Sam's eyeball out? GAH.

Did I completely imagine things, btw, or were the two doctors in the parking lot in the very beginning--were those the actors who play(ed) on SGA? Um, Major Lorne and the long-deceased Peter Groton? If they were, I'm going to start playing that Kevin Bacon game (six somethings or other, yeah?) with Jared and Jensen.

Okay. The episode, as it pertains to the Winchester brothers. I liked it -- a lot more than last week's ep -- but what the hell is up with this separating the brothers? This is three eps in a row now. Grrr. Even Matthew was kind of affronted: "what's up with that? They're more powerful together." That's my boy :) I did like it a lot, though--a lot of strong emotion between the two, and it's a similar theme to what we saw in "Faith", I think. Dean, as stoic as he can be considering he's scared to death (much moreso now than he was in Faith, and with good reason)...and trying to find options he can live with (pardon the pun). And then there's Sam, who's just plain desperate, at this point, obviously willing to consider pretty much anything. Which is kind of scary, when you get right down to it. Because at the end of Faith it was pretty obvious he would've done it all over again -- he said as much, I think. And then of course in "Mystery Spot", when he was so obsessed with first saving Dean and then with finding the Trickster.

Oh, also? Who WASN'T surprised to find out it's Lilith holding Dean's contract?

OHMYGOD. Seriously. I think it's entirely possible that Sam's going to reclaim his demon-gifted powers, or at least try. I just. Will Dean actually go to hell for a time, before Sam figures out how to get his soul back? And was it just me, or did it look like Dean's body is. Um. Left behind? I've read a lot of fic where it's like his entire...being...is pulled in, but I guess John's body was left behind, so why wouldn't Dean's be? God. Next week is going to be a KILLER.

Actually, a perfectly legitimate treatment for some types of wounds (where there's a high risk of gangrene, I think) is to use specially bred sterile maggots and trap them in the wound area. They eat all the tissue as it dies, so as the wound heals there's no dead tissue trapped to cause infection.

I think they're mainly used where it's impractical to surgically excise all the dead/dying tissue.
