*For those of you new to my journal, my son has Aspergers Syndrome, which is an Autism Spectrum Disorder, so this is something near and dear to my heart. :)

My mentor in college, who was 67, worked with autistic children right out of school. She absolutely believed that the kids could live normal lives, and everything she taught us about progress was from personal experience. I think it's interesting that some of the recoveries she reported were as profound as, or more profound than, those reported today--you still can't replace the care, education, and time of a single person.
