*For those of you new to my journal, my son has Aspergers Syndrome, which is an Autism Spectrum Disorder, so this is something near and dear to my heart. :)

My son is 13! Not quite as tall, though he's taller than me, now (I'm 5'6"). And yeah. It's been one hell of a ride since we got his diagnosis -- he was six -- with doctors, therapies, schooling, medication, and yeah. Like your cousin, I've watched my son become much more stable and confident. We still have a lot of issues that we work with constantly, but he's come so far :)

As a fellow 5'6-er, I comiserate with the slight indignation (and pride) you must feel with having a 13 year old tower over you, lol. Cal's going to be ginormous. I gave him my old rollerblades when he was 8 and he'd grown out of them within 6 months O.O
