Do we have any idea -- has it been mentioned ANYWHERE -- how long Sam and Jess were together, before the Pilot ep? Ballpark estimate?

Also, assuming Sam was starting his senior year, fall 2005, that would've put him beginning fall 2002, right? So, spring of 2003 he'd still have been living in the dorms? Or does Stanford have a freshman-must-live-in-dorms policy? Does anyone know?

A co-op is a house on campus (sometimes a theme house like BOB or Xanadu) that you live in with other students where you have to do cooking and chores yourself, they're popular at alot of the California schools.

As for a studio apartment, there isn't really loft housing in Palo Alto. The closest apartment building to Campus is on Mayfield, which is actually about four blocks down from the Law school, so not very far, I'm not sure how expensive it is, but you could probably get a one bedroom there for about $1200 a month.

In downtown the apartment buildings are pretty much universally for older folk, and the only other major apartment buildings are near the high school I graduated from (a good hike from Campus) and incidentally, right across from the cemetary Jess was buried in (if in fact she was buried in Palo Alto like Sam's dream indicated, because that set was relatively true to life, figures, THAT they get right).

I'll stop babbling.

Hrm. Co-op isn't going to work for the purposes of the story.

Do we have any indication that Sam and Jess were living right near campus? I mean, is bus transportation reasonable? Or bikes (I seem to recall seeing a bike or two in their apartment)?

When you say 'loft apartments', what do you mean? A studio, for what I know, is just a big room, with closet, bath and kitchen a little separated. No lofts anywhere. I'm looking at www.apartmentguide.com and they're showing some with studios. *frowns* Or what about like, would Sam look in the newspaper, the want ads, and maybe someone has a garage apartment to let -- or is that what you meant by loft? Or, ooh. Guest house/pool house? *ponders*

Several professors let out guest houses, so that's feasible. Once again, I reiterate, I simply don't believe off-campus housing is terribly affordable. Lofts are a type of studio house.
