so far, I'm not liking September
Sep. 3rd, 2008 08:30 pmThe last three days have been the hottest we've had all summer, which is a JOKE, considering that summer is supposed to be over now. Right? Labor Day, and then everything's back to school, end of summer, etc.
Add to that the fact that Matthew's sick -- nasty headcold that I think is turning into a sinus/ear infection -- and it's just been one big bag o'fun around here. I'm taking him to the doctor tomorrow morning, because he started complaining last night that his ear hurt, and much as I'd like to imagine it's just drainage/congestion, my kid has a history with ear infections. So, better safe than sorry, and at least I can get a doctor's note to excuse him from school, because hey, he hasn't been back yet this week. o_O
I can hardly wait for all the homework we'll have to do this weekend. Yes, please to be noting the sarcasm in that sentence.
My dad's birthday is Friday, and I haven't mailed his cards yet. I think I'll make a point to do that tomorrow, on the way to the doctor's office.
Haven't been to Best Buy/Target/wherever yet to get S3 of Supernatural, either. I hope I can still find one of the sets with the mini-Impala with it.
Did I mention it's been really freakin' hot this week? And humid--got love air quality alert days.
Matthew's still lying quietly on the couch -- and has, for the last three days. That's how I know my kid is really sick. Not how much he's coughing (a lot, actually) or how congested he sounds (really, really congested), but the fact that he is, of his own free will, laying on the couch. Not doing anything but watching TV. No playing, no PS2, no nothing. This, the child I have to medicate in order to keep him even somewhat calm.
Bedtime soon, thank god. I'm exhausted, from being kept awake by Matthew coughing all night. He seems to sleep through it (I don't have a clue how), but it wakes ME up. How the heck is that fair?
