So, is anyone watching this? I started it, stopped, started again, third time was the charm. Madisyn actually finished watching the 13 seasons that are on Netflix before me, and then we had to go digging for season 14, which we found on PBS, I think. Anyway! I'd love to talk about it with someone, if anyone's watched, and is interested in discussing it. So, hit me up, if you want :)

Yeah, check PBS (if you're in the US, anyway, I don't know where it might be airing if you're elsewhere), definitely.

I think my favorite person is Phyllis. I really adore Trixie, definitely, but there's something about Nurse Crane. I want to know more of her background, her life history. Has she always been so very no nonsense, or is it because she was raised by a single mom (and she's illegitimate, to boot!)?

I like the storylines, and how they actually don't pull any punches. Unplanned pregnancies, thalidamide babies (I really adore Brenda Mullocks and Susan!), poverty, domestic violence.

Oh, man. The episode...S1 or S2, where the woman's husband is pimping her out to make extra money, and their flat ends up catching fire and they find the newborn baby and the toddler, left alone in there.

Are there any episodes you flat-out hate? I won't watch the one with the queer-baiting, where they send the undercover cop into the restroom, and the guy gets arrested, and his wife is due at any time? I watched it once, and then had to sit through it when Matthew watched it (he started watching when Madisyn was halfway through the season but then he went back to the first season and started watching so he could catch up at least to me, and UGH.)

Nurse Crane is a delight, yes. As is Sister Monica Joan, and Sister Julienne. And Chummy. :D
That was such a sad, sad episode. Or the one where the woman had syphilis, I think, and lost the fetus, and Jenny was kind of horrified by her, but then called her a heroine, and the woman just...glowed....
The poor wee Irish girl whose baby was taken from her at the church home, who'd been whored out by the 'nice' man.... That character/actress was so excellent!

I'm with you, I detest that episode.

It's crazy and sad and horrible to see how AWFUL the living conditions were, how destroyed and ruined, but there everyone was, still living in all that mess....

I read the book the first few seasons were based on - really good! I'm still enjoying the show so much after all these seasons, which isn't something that happens too often! I didn't like how they filmed through COVID though - too much distance, it made for some weird/awkward moments.

I'm almost done with season 14, I think - not sure how many eps, I need to look it up. I watch on a free streaming site. :D
