mickeymFollowing on to the saga of the Worst Computer Ever:
My computer borked (again) the other day: it no longer recognized my official Dell charge cord, nor my WiFi. I backed stuff up, and then did a factory reset, which fixed both of those issues.
However. There was a casualty: my email.
I've transferred my email more times than I can count, but I really screwed something up... and in doing so I lost (*cries*) 16 YEARS worth of emails. Conversations I wanted to keep; recipes; emails from my Dad, and friends I've lost, so those are just totally gone. I lost story comments, and stories friends had written for me.
I just... tried every which way to reinstall the right files, but Thunderbird has decided that 2021 hasn't already sucked enough, it was going to add insult to injury. Ugh.
So! To all my wonderful people who are here, and we exchanged communication independent of LJ/DW... would you please send me an email, so I can begin reconstructing my address book? You can also send me any recipes you think I might like.

And if you and I were in a fandom together (or just in fandom in general), and you gifted me with a story at some point... could you send me a copy? Or a link? Something?
Definitely going to be mourning this loss for a while. Sixteen years is a hell of a long time. :(

Date: 2021-06-09 11:12 pm (UTC)I'm so sorry that happened. I hate having to update or change crap on my computer. And MS is the *worst.* On one of their updates they changed ALL video viewing to MS video viewer and rendered all the various players unusable. So fanvids that wouldn't play in other programs I set up to play with VLC--are now just lumps of digits and totally unplayable--LotR vids, Highlander vids, early SPN vids... just gone. Most of the vidders have disapeared, so I'll never get playable versions back.
