"A Muppet Christmas Carol". It started out as a small-child-friendly concession, because I love the original black-and-white 'A Christmas Carol', but it was too creepy for my son when he was really little. But it evolved into Christmas Eve tradition: we sit down with snacks and blankets on the couch, and pop in the Muppet Christmas Carol.

There are others we enjoy watching (including, now, the original Christmas Carol), but that one remains a constant, have-to-watch-it-on-Christmas-Eve :)

I'm not trying to freak you out or anything but I think we might be soul mates. Muppet Christmas Carol is my favorite movie ever, Christmas or not. It's gotten me some strange looks in the past, mostly from dull, joyless people. And yes, it is a completely unironic choice!

Sounds like a much better Christmas Eve than the ones I usually have, hours upon hours of Mass and then my grampa casually criticizing my weight in front of everyone...

A Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie is pretty awesome too, if only for the rave scene in which Sam the Eagle is dancing around and shaking his glowsticks at everybody. :)

Home Alone!

OMG, my family watches that EVERY YEAR. Often multiple times! We usually start around Thanksgiving and have several viewings throughout the holiday season, but it's a requirement, usually on Christmas Eve (if people aren't too busy with last-minute wrapping and stuff) or on Christmas Day after all the presents are open and we've eaten.

The Muppet Christmas Carol is a really *excellent* version of the story. I wonder if we have a DVD—I should dig it out. There is only one better (assuming we don't count the original book), which is I'm sorry I haven't a Christmas Carol, written for and performed on the radio.
