I belong to a comm here on LJ: gsa_lj. This was posted there tonight:



This was made on May 4 by a 14-year-old boy - Jamey Rodemeyer - who had recently come out at his middle school:

Jamey just started high school. On September 9th, he wrote on his Tumblr: "I always say how bullied I am, but no one listens. What do I have to do so people will listen to me?"


He killed himself on Sunday.

I've never tried, but there have been a number of times when the only thing that kept me from trying was knowing I'd be leaving Matthew behind.

It breaks my heart that Jamey did -- especially since, from the article, it seems like his parents and people close to him were aware there were problems and trying to help him. But the people, the kids, who made fun of him and taunted him, I hope they have to answer for their actions (and words) one day. Somehow.

It scares me, because there's so much hate out there, for anyone who's even a little bit different. I don't know if you remember a while back, when Matthew and Justin did their Facebook thing, where they said they were a couple? It was only up there for a few *hours*, and Matthew had one kid on XBox chat calling him a fag, and kids on the bus giving him a hard time, and just--GAH.
