Happy, merry holiday wishes :)
Dec. 25th, 2010 11:24 pmFor everyone who celebrated Christmas today, I hope it was a good one.
I feel I am truly blessed with my family and friends; with having enough food to eat, and a roof over my head. I may not always have as much of everything I want, but I have plenty of the things I need.
I got a Kindle for Christmas, as well as some money, and some movies. Matthew got me a gorgeous purple scarf/hat/glove set, and my sister and BiL gave me a GPS.
I was supposed to meet
azephirin on Monday for lunch and socializing, and then Matthew and I were going to be heading home Tuesday morning. Thanks to the Nor'easter blizzard that's coming. We toyed with the idea of leaving right after dinner today, then considered tomorrow morning, and then after dinner I checked the weather along the route we will take home...and no. All "major" stops that had listed 'winter weather advisory' earlier in the day had switched them to 'winter weather warning' or 'winter storm warning' or 'blizzard warning'. All through CT, NY, PA, MD, WV and even into KY. I made an executive decision to just sit tight here at my sister's, and we'll head home Wednesday morning. We're all getting along, having fun talking and playing cards, and watching movies, so I think it'll be okay.
Matthew was kind of upset about the decision, but I told him that given the wide-spread severity of the storm, I didn't want to take the chance. At least here we're safe, warm, plenty of food and things to do, television to watch, new Christmas presents to play with. Out on the road we take the chance of accidents, sliding off the road, not being able to find a hotel, or worse, getting stuck somewhere if the power goes out, etc. I think he finally understood, and accepted things, and we're good.
And now I'm going to go get ready for bed, because I was up at 7:30a this morning, after only about five hours of sleep...and I'm tired. :)
Stay safe and warm, everyone. Love to all of you :)
P.S. - I didn't get my cards done. I may do them while I'm snowed in, and just send them out as 'holiday season' cards. Guess we'll see how that goes *g*
