I cleaned the house! Like, really cleaned it. Well, cleaned part of it. It's going to require a couple more passes through before it's completely done, but. Vacuumed, dusted/cleaned baseboards, dusted the knick-knacks. Then Matthew and I moved furniture. Oi. Our couches are heavy, btw. We shifted both (and I'm embarrassed by the sheer amount of garbage that was under both), and moved his desk. Dusted and vacuumed some more. Moved the corner cabinet into the kitchen, as well as the trunk I got from my grandma. Matthew says, "but mom, my XBox stuff is in that!" to which I replied, "it's five feet away. You can manage that." Heh.

The living room feels more open and accessible now, and my kitchen doesn't seem quite so empty :) I also found a very cheap little dinette table and two chairs for sale on Craigslist, and the folks selling them brought them over here to me!

I had to sit down a lot in between stuff, but I stuck with it and actually accomplished a lot. I'm tired now -- and my muscles feel kind of like jelly -- but it's a good, hey-I-was-productive tired :)

We've had a LOT of Teenaged Angst and Drama (tm) in the house this week: Matthew's and Justin's. But things seem to be settling a bit, thank god, so that's definitely a plus.

And now Matthew and I are watching Gangland. It makes both of us cringe and shake our heads, but we're kind of addicted to it, too.

I think I want a nap. Maybe I'll give in to the urge :) Hope y'all are having a good Saturday.

I don't know that it's clean enough (yet) to inspire envy, but it does feel good to have made some progress forward. Even better is that Matthew and I talked about it and agreed that if we do this every week -- once it's all cleaned -- it'll only TAKE an hour or two (this place is not that big) to keep it at this level.

The best part of that is that Matthew took an active role in agreeing that it needed to be done. It'll be easier now too, with the living room more open, I can navigate it easier to clean it up. :)

Good for you! I've been doing house-cleaning this weekend for my FIL, who is emigrating (!), and it's very satisfying to see window sills become visible, vast sacks of rubbish carted to the dump, etc. I must have thrown away about, hmm, 10,000 saved plastic bags yesterday. Not kidding.

But it makes you feel so energised to sit in a newly tidied room and think, we did this!
