Sonoma County CA separates elderly gay couple and sells their home
You have to read the whole article. I'm literally sick to my stomach with what these poor men had to go through. There's been a lawsuit filed by the surviving man, and while it will not replace what he's lost, I hope Sonoma County gets its ASS handed to it.
I am beyond disgusted, and saddened by this. Who the hell could think this was a good thing?

And they have the right and the power to see to it everybody else conforms to their standards, or is severely punished. It was a bitter lesson for me to learn that such people actually exist, people who are so concerned that other people not have the freedom to make choices they disapprove of that they would do terrible damage rather than compromise their principles, or allow others to compromise their principles.
Of course as often as not, these moral arbiters are revealed to be as base and depraved as anybody else, and more than some.

Date: 2010-04-19 07:43 pm (UTC)I've seen it happen to my mom, over and over again whenever she's had to be hospitalized. They completely disregard her as a person. If I'm in the room, they talk to me right over her head like she's not important. It scares the hell out of me to think of any senior who has to go into the system without someone to be their advocate now.
*hugs you*
