I'm actually a little annoyed, though, because Lisa...wtf? I mean, that's what he thinks of, when he's happy? Someone he spent a couple of days together with, mostly in bed, a decade ago? I get that he likes her, she's nice, and he likes Ben (and the idea of Ben being his). But--argh.

Also, did I hear what I thought I heard, when Sam was leaving his message for Castiel? They were in Blue Earth, MN? Isn't that where Pastor Jim's church was? I mean, I know Jim's been dead since S1, but. Shouldn't there have been SOME sort of mention between Sam and Dean about that? Or something?

I'm mostly still stuck on OH MY GOD HE'S GOING TO SAY YES.

The whole thing with Lisa felt very... Out of the blue? Random? Besides your point, I mean.

Yeah. Well. I was just reading balefully's ep reaction(s) and what her thoughts were. She said she wonders if it's not more like Lisa is what Dean thinks should be his happy thought -- and I really agree with that. I don't think Dean really knows anymore what makes him happy (or how to be, or anything like that) and I suspect he's glommed onto what feels "normal" and safe. It was A happy moment in his life, she didn't reject him the way Cassie did, even after she knew the truth of what he does.

But we were shown last week that Dean's version of Heaven (which to me is the ultimate Happy) is 4th of July fireworks with his brother. But that's not a safe thing right now, because of all the destiny shit.

I was totally shocked to see Lisa, and then I realized that it makes sense, at least as far as the writers are concerned. She showed up in DaLDoM, too. They've been heading in the direction of Dean wanting to settle down with a family, even as Sam becomes less and less interested in that kind of life, for a while now.

And I get that Dean is tired, and the hunting life is becoming less appealing, but it's like the writers think that there are only two options, a white picket fence or being a hunter. There's nothing wrong with wanting a family unit, goodness knows I'm part of one, but...yeah. I think if it wasn't for Ben, he wouldn't be giving Lisa a second thought.

Yes, it was Blue Earth. And another thing that was odd was Dean being all weirded out that the Pastor there was armed and fighting demons. Hello, Pastor Jim and his church basement full of weapons? That whole thing was off.

Okay, I have to watch this ep again but I think Dean likes the *idea* of settling down with a woman and having a kid because of his memories of his Mom. He wants that again and this is how he can have it in some weird way???

Sorry to barge in, I was reading some reaction posts and wanted to give you my take: Lisa is a ready-made heaven for Dean. Already has a kid, seems to like him, no messy emotional problems. Wham, you skip past the actual relationship and straight into "happily ever after".

as for lisa. I get what they THINK they are doing with her. But they've done a thoroughly shitty job of selling it IMO. They've barely TOLD us about it and they really need to SHOW us. Yes, what Lucy said about how it's what Dean thinks he wants, but they needed to do a better job. That part felt like some of the fanfics I've read where you get to the end and feel like the person started with the ending, but didn't manage to write the middle well enough to get us there.
