Second, Oh.My.GOD, y'all, I am reading the Best Book EVER. The God Eaters, by Jesse Hajicek.

SO GOOD. I have about 120 pages left (I've read 300 pages today!!!) and I find myself pausing now, because I don't want it to end! I don't want the story to be over! It's like...fanfic, really. Sci-fi/fantasy, with gay sex and romance and bad guys, and culture stuff that parallels the Whites taking over the Native Americans, and there's magic (called Talents), different kinds -- pyro, kinesis, empath and so on. Oh, and hurt/comfort, lots and lots of delicious hurt/comfort.

I want the whole world to read this book and LOVE IT. (Okay. He has a website with the story up, but buy the book. Even if you read it online, if you love it, buy a copy.)

Okay. I have to go finish reading it now. *whimpers* Don't want it to end!

...dammit, I hate when I stray from good links to bad ones. I looked at the book review and then tried clicking to see if the author wrote other stuff. Instantly, thanks to the magic of Amazon, I found some mouthbreather who mansplained that Jesse is really "a fat woman named Jessica who claims to be a gay man and gets paid for manga fanfic where all the males act like twelve year old boys". Seriously, is there any better way to advertise that you're a bitter, homely virgin in your mom's basement with your fishbelly-white nethers oozing over the rim of your Macbook, pausing mid-raid with your level 40 WoW dude just to trash the 500-page novel you were apparently too unoccupied to stop reading? What, no sex-starved girlfriend knocking down the door during that reading engagement, dillhole? Color me shocked.

All of which leads me to say, hey! More gay lit, and by a fan. Awesome! I'm going to check out the link and if I like it, I'll buy. (I'm always a touch apprehensive about white authors writing stories with clear colonizing references, but I don't know if the author is white since I can't find any info and it can be done well. I'm willing to give it a shot. :DDDDD )

Well, judging by the picture on the back cover of the book, he's a white boy *g* But I think the story -- all parts of it -- are well done. I really hope you enjoy it. Let me know what you think? As you read it, if you want; I would LOVE someone to discuss it with :)

I... have no idea if it comes in ebook format or not. Is there any way to read text files on an ereader? If so, you could probably save the individual chapters... otherwise, I do not know. Sorry :(

Out of curiosity, are you a fan of the webcomic Metanoia, or did you find The God Eaters independently? I haven't read the book yet myself, but I have been meaning to for AGES. And if you don't already read Metanoia, you really REALLY should (cruel cliffhangers and all) - it's gorgeously written AND gorgeously illustrated - and I can nab you a link if you need.

I found The God Eaters independently -- totally by accident, while looking for m/m romance/fiction stuff. It's SO GOOD, seriously.

I haven't read the Metanoia comic, though I have his pages bookmarked, as well as the LJ. Cliffhangers give me hives, though *g* There's a reason I don't like WIPS. But. I'll give it a go :)

Yay! I love The God Eaters like burning! Actually bought the book in hardcopy, although I know you can find it free at the web site. Such gorgeous, lyrical writing and world-building, and such amazing characters. This was the first original m/m romance novel I read and it started me down an amazing road. It has now become my secondary obsession (after Supernatural). As with any genre, there's plenty of hack writing, but there's also plenty of amazingly good stuff, too.

You don't by any chance hang out at the M/M romance goodreads community, do you?
