sometimes the sun shines even when it's cloudy

This hasn't been the greatest week; it's cloudy and gray and I've been really down. Moreso than usual, actually, and less productive than usual. Ended up not getting done some things I needed to, but I can do them tomorrow, no problem there.

But in the midst of all this gray and depressing, I got a bright spot. Now, I've been unemployed for six-plus months, and I've been applying for jobs, pretty much responding to whatever I could that I felt even remotely like I qualified for, but they were just jobs-I-applied-for-because-I-need-a-job.

Today a job alert from USAJobs dropped into my inbox, for a "Correspondence Clerk", located at Ft. Knox. At first I was all, "eh, it's going to be another admin support position, okay, I'll go do the online app in a little bit." And then I actually read the duties/position description:

You will research/compose responses to a variety of unaccounted for requests, questions, and complaints related to unaccounted for service members from the Vietnam War, Korean War, and World War II. You will identify basic issues to be addressed and complicating factors (such as past precedents, political considerations, sensitivity of information). Gather information on facts/regulatory provisions that apply to specific circumstances. Compose and type letters, memorandums, and messages to other military commands, branches of service, archives, records repositories, or other appropriate sources to request information. Process requests for reimbursement of expenses incurred. Compose/type explanations in response to correspondence received. You will differentiate between official and unsubstantiated reports; outline action taken and continuing efforts being made by the Army. You will utilize Windows, Word Perfect, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and DCIPS.

I can't even begin to express how much I want this job. I WANT THIS JOB. A lot. I'm good at researching, I'm good at composing correspondence, I do pretty well in the communications department, generally speaking. I enjoy contact with the military, and with military veterans, and more than anything I like serving. Helping assist families who've had loved ones serve and then lost them, or had troubles because of that service.

I called my sister up and told her about the job, and she's going to go over the position description/duties against my resume and help me rewrite it so I can get noticed.

None of the other jobs I've applied for have resonated with me like this one does. I hope that means something. I'm going to cross my fingers hard and say a few prayers, and any positive vibes/thoughts/etc any of y'all would like to send my way, they would be much appreciated.

Not really an option; there's no local contact for it. All questions/contact has to go through the Central Agency Processing unit, located out of Maryland. But I just feel so very positive about this that it has to mean something.
