(Which I just typoed as 'pool', initially. Oi.)

So, Big Bang. I need to start getting started, and I thought I'd cemented in my mind what I was writing... and then [livejournal.com profile] annella comes along with her really cool idea, and now I'm torn. So, flist, help me figure it out. The ideas are as follows:

A. Pre-series-ish. Scenario is this: Mary didn't die. Sam and Dean are raised in a loving, stable home with two parents. When Sam is a senior in high school, the apocalypse comes. Happens. Whichever verb is applicable. Anyway, the sky rips open, fire rains down, zombies rise, all sorts of nifty things. Think... Red Dawn, but with zombies and the Croatoan virus. Kind of. Sam/Dean (does that need to be said?), definitely eventually; possibly from the start. So, in summary, a pre-series, non-series (a/u) apocalypse.

B. (This is [livejournal.com profile] annella's idea, taken with her blessing.) Post apocalypse. Both boys survive but Sam is seriously screwed up - the anger thing we saw in 5x11 plus, y'know, EVERYTHING ELSE. Dean finally acknowledges that he has to HELP his brother and that pushing it all down is the opposite of helpful. Sam ends up in a psychiatric ward where he actually gets HELPED. Because a lot of the actual apocalypse was extremely visible, he doesn't have much trouble getting doctors to believe him and they help him work through everything.

Dean doesn't tell Sam on his weekly visits, but he's started seeing a therapist too.

Both boys manage to work out their issues and live happily ever after in a small 2-bedroom apartment. Sam works at a library and Dean fixes cars. etc etc curtain fic. Also Sam/Dean, eventually. (And highly likely to get Joss'd/Kripke'd to hell and back -- no pun intended -- but whatever. To some extent everything we write is a/u, right? *g*)

So, ElJay. Help me decide what to write, because I am SERIOUSLY torn, here. I really kind of want to do both (and maybe will, who knows), but that's not feasible for right now.

This is hilarious, but funny enough I'm writing something very, very similar to A for [community profile] au_bigbang. Pre-series apocalypse fic FTW!

Both ideas from you sound wonderful, so whatever you choose I know you'll do it justice.

'Tis the season for apocalypse a/us? Or something? *g*

Man, deciding is HARD. *whines*

LOL, so much word! It's all the rage as they say. In fact the SPN fandom had the largest showing in the [profile] apocabigbang challenge, so I expect in the coming month when posting starts we'll see a huge amount of epic apocafic flood the fandom. Zombies are love <3

Of course curtain!fic featuring mechanic Dean will always be epic love as well. So I do understand your hard decision. *g*

Post-apocalypse THERAPY FIC??? SIGN ME THE FUCK UP!!!

Heeee! So, in lieu of hooker!fic, you'll take therapy!fic? ;) The things I'm learning about you *g*

The only kind of post apoc fic I like is the kind where the apocalypse is averted. It's very hard being in a fandom with an actual apocalypse, you know? :) Although, if the apocalypse brings more thigh holsters, I may have to rethink my position.

So, therapy!fic/curtain!fic would make me very happy.

Yeah, I'm not HUGE on the whole apocfic thing either -- which is what makes this whole situation so fucking funny. Essentially TWO apocafics to choose from. Oi. *g*

And I see you signed up! YAY! \o/ Any idea what you're going to write?

You know how in Death Takes a Holiday, the dead kid sticks around and his mom knows it and can't let him go? Well, I think I may explore what if Sam had hung around those couple of days when he was dead in Cold Oak and Dean sensed him and how maybe that was one of the reasons he couldn't let go.

That is, if I can remember whose idea that originally was, because I know I saw it in discussion of that episode and it's stuck with me ever since, but I would like to acknowledge whoever that was.

That sounds like a completely awesome idea.

Man, BBs are going to be outstanding this year, aren't they? *happy sigh* (Though I swear, I don't recognize but maybe a third of the people signed up!)

Eh, right now it is 50/50. Love how helpful we all are LOL.
Well, at least you know both ideas are pretty awesome.

Toe is clearly winning though :D

Toe IS winning! Which is kind of awesome *g*

Well, I'll let the poll run a while longer, see what comes of it. At least it gives me an idea...sort of. *g*

And I'm even less helpful than anyone else by commenting about everything except my preference. Oh me.

I like the second option better. I think both are pretty cool but I have a personal preference for post rather than pre show fic for the simple reason that with pre show we know the final outcome as we have been living with it - so to speak - for 5 years now but with post show you can go anywhere as it isn't written yet.
This is strictly a personal view and I will enjoy either, I'm sure.
Also, I'd rather see the boys moving towards better, healed than moving towards getting more hurt and broken mostly because I really like them...

MAN. The pre-series AU sounds so, so, so amazing, hon, but, also - I AM DESPERATE FOR A LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL, you know?? Like, I crave SPN future!fic in which the boys deal with things and there's Sam/Dean and you are one of my FAVORITE writers so reading that from you would be THE BEST.

From: [identity profile] mickeym.livejournal.com
Light at the end of the tunnel? I'm sorry, WHAT show are you watching again? *g* (I hear you, I really do. I'm just very, very wary of what Kripke might give us, y'know?)

The only thing that makes me hold back from enthusiastically embracing option B is... the therapy stuff. I mean--yikes. I suspect that might be rather brutal to write. *wince* Which doesn't mean I don't think I can't do it. Just. Well, I can always buy stock in Kleenex. And I know Matthew will fetch cool drinks and cloths for me. He did the last two years. *g*

I need to get me a big bang icon. I rather like the one you're using *g* Sums things up nicely.

I REALLY WANT BOTH. I chose A because ZOMBIES. Zombies are awesome. There needs to be more zombie fic, for srs.

From: [identity profile] mickeym.livejournal.com
*laughing* You can blame (credit?) Matthew for the zombies. He has the new Left 4 Dead 2 game, in which one of the achievements is to 'decapitate 100 infected with a machete'. And he achieved it. (New Year's eve in our house: me, frantically writing my spn_j2_xmas exchange fic; him, gleefully killing zombies. Oi.)

Heh. Still a close race in the polls.

I voted for B because... like [livejournal.com profile] arlad I am in LOVE with future fic (especially boys living together in domesticity, fucked up and broken though it may be future fic), and I think you would do the trope proud.

You mentioned upthread that you were worried about doing the therapy scenes... I don't know that you would have to get too terribly deep into them for the purposes of the story. I think it would be enough to write about the feelings and thoughts therapy inspired rather than the sessions themselves?

Frankly I'm just thrilled you're writing Sam/Dean and would be ecstatic with either, but the latter is intriguing and I think you could do it justice. Mmmm, so much yummy Sam/Dean goodness for big bang this year.... *grins*

I am a sucker for curtain fic, but I desperately want to read something where they go to therapy and deal with everything because they need it so much.

Um.. both??? I can't pick.

But i'm having the same problem with my crossover bang.. can't decide what to do with it :P I have 3 ideas... tee hee hee... I can't wait to see what you do come up with though. Both sound really interesting to me!

Normally I'm all about the pre-series and anything S/D is awesome, but I'm dying for some therapy and working through issues and domesticity so I had to say B. :)
