By way of [livejournal.com profile] kitanachan:

Why I Love Large Men, by Anna Davies

The article is pretty misleading, actually, and like [livejournal.com profile] kitanachan, I found it very offensive. The author never says anywhere what it is she "loves/loved" about large men, but rather states that she used them as a shield, as a way to make herself feel better about her size, until she "got over" her issues and could enjoy the skinny guys she was really attracted to.

An excerpt from the article:

The guys were "larger than life" in every sense. Still, I wasn't drawn to them for their fantastic sense of humor or their laid-back attitude. I liked them because they made me feel better about myself.

It was only AFTER one of her large-sized suitors rejected her that she found a therapist -- and he rejected her because he wasn't up to playing psychoanalyst for her.

There's no email contact for the article, but it was originally published in Marie Claire. If you read the article and it offends you, and you'd like to let someone know, you can contact the Editor-in-Chief of the magazine at JoannaColes@hearst.com.

Marie Claire is a horror of a magazine. I bet they get sued ten times a year. Jesus.

That particular publication seems to have a habit of publishing offensive articles. There was one that I read through a link from ravelry.com wherein the authoress talked about how horrified she was that women were walking around naked in the locker room at her gym. (WTF?) My favorite section was the one where she hysterically talked about being brought up as a "good girl" with "respectable, old-fashioned values", and not in "one of those "naked houses" where, I imagine, girls would often go braless or change their shirts with their bedroom doors open."

(The general consensus was that the article smacked of repressed lesbianism and severe, deep-seated self-loathing and body insecurity. The tripe that Marie Claire sees fit to publish utterly astounds me.
