Is Mpreg like, the new thing for fandom? 'Cos I just saw a post on the hard4brains comm (and seriously, trying to picture either Matt or John pregnant makes me wanna reach for the bleach, yikes).

I mean, sure, I like the occasional mpreg, and to each their own for reading pleasure. It just seems like there's been an awful lot of it popping up (out, HAH) lately.

An awful, awful lot of it (and some awful, awful *g*) is over on the spnkink_meme, I think. Or at least that's where I've been seeing it. Though last night I saw a manip that I'll never be able to UNsee that was J2 mpreg.

I like it if it's done well, and reasonably believable. But. So much of it isn't. Sadly.

You really aren't missing much. I can go back through them and see if there are any I think you'd like, but most of them are fairly poorly done, more like, Character X-obsessed-with-keeping-Character Y-pregnant-and-huge-with-his-child(ren). Really more of a breeding kink, than an mpreg thing, y'know?

I would love to write with you :) I will say maybe, in the (hopefully) not-too-distant future? I have a Sweet Charity story I still need to do (it was due at the end of July and the buyer is being very patient, but meep!), plus now the holiday exchange thingy, and I also decided that I'm going to write a story for my nieces for their Christmas present. Oh, and cormallen and I tentatively started writing something that's just kind of hanging there right now because MY WORDS HAVE DESERTED ME. *sigh*

I agree, but I don't think Dean can get fat with the hunter lifestyle anyway. XD For any of the chubby!Dean fics to make any sense to me, it'd have to be set like, post-apocalypse or something.

I figure Dean probably does running and whatnot off-camera; I doubt he would stop fitness training of some sort simply because being physically fit is sometimes the only thing that keeps him alive.

They spend so much time in the car, though...but yeah, I need to convince myself of something like this if Dean's body vs. Dean's eating habits are going to make any sense. Also that Sam secretly drinks protein shakes and works out a LOT offscreen, since his beefy-ass body makes even less sense than Dean's slimness when you consider that the guy never freaking eats onscreen. COME ON, SHOW.

...also, while we're talking realism, why no car-washing scenes? The Impala is always so shiny. Clearly the only way to make us fangirls suspend our disbelief is to have a scene where wet, soapy, shirtless Sam and Dean wash the car. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO THE ~*PLOT*~.

Yeah, that's my thing--it's fine when it's done right, but all too often it's not. So much of what's showing up on the meme is more...fetishizing it, all emphasis on the breeding, and the size of the belly, and all that. Y'know?

I saw that, too...like, whoa. As a Sci-fi fan, I can only read mpreg of there's a relatively reasonable explanation for it (ie magic, potion, hermaphroditism, etc.). I just can't do it if it's just kind of BAM! a dude's preggers--except popslash for some odd reason. :-p

Well, popslash *g* Assbabies and all! :) But yeah, if there's something going on to make it so there's SOME kind of explanation. But so much of it's not... an mpreg kink so much as a breeding kink, I think, (my opinion) based on how the stories are done.
