New book from Diana Gabaldon, due to be released on September 22, 2009: An Echo In The Bone.

If any of you haven't read Diana Gabaldon's books, I highly recommend them.

They start with Outlander, where Claire Randall, who is vacationing with her husband Frank in post-WWII Scotland, steps through a "miniature" stone henge, and into 18th century Scotland. It's an incredible read, full of adventure, action, romance, mystery. The historical details are stunning, and the characters are so real, so believable, it's hard to believe they're not real people. (And I would be shocked and surprised if you've read the books and aren't at least a little bit in love with Jamie. *g*)

Anyway. Now that I've discovered the new book coming out, I guess it's time to start saving my pennies. Because Diana Gabaldon is the only author (now that the Harry Potter books are done) I'll still buy hardcover books for.

Hmm. Might be time to start re-reading all of them. :)

I can so clearly remember reading the first one -- it was while my (ex) husband was stationed in Korea -- sitting up all night long, completely entranced by the story unfolding. And then getting to the end and being all !!!!!!!

I think I went out the next day and bought the second one. *g*

It's being released a couple months before MY birthday, but I think it'll make an awesome early present ;) Ooh, and then we can squee together!

Tell me honestly: it's not possible not to be at least a little in love with Jamie, right? Or is it just me?

I was living in Lake Andes, SD (pop. 540) when I read Outlander and I was hooked. I had to order them online because the nearest bookstore was 2 hours away. *lol*

We will so have to squee! Gabaldon has just gotten better with each book and now I can't wait to see where she takes Jamie and Claire this time.

Two HOURS? Oi.

Though...okay, when I read Outlander, I think it was in '92 -- there was no ordering anything online *g* Pretty sure the internet was still mostly just some amorphous thing only geeks were aware of ;)

I can't wait to see, either!

Now I'm remembering when Ian was taken in trade for Roger, and I cried, oh, man. And cried again when he returned.

It was 2000 for me when I read it?

Now I'm remembering when Ian was taken in trade for Roger, and I cried, oh, man. And cried again when he returned.

I sobbed! All of Young Ian's story has made me cry. And I love the closeness that he has with Brianna. *sniff*
