I keep seeing all these headlines that go something along the line of "Jackson's will leaked, ex-wife snubbed", or words to that effect.

And...so? I mean, why would his ex-wife be named in his will? His kids, sure. Friends, family, whatever. But, like, I don't expect Doug to name me for anything in HIS will, and I'm pretty sure neither my mom nor dad will name the other in their wills... So does it have to be headline-type news?

I just don't GET it.

Agreed. She's an EX so of course she would be snubbed. I'd have been more surprised if she'd been included.

Well, and is it even 'snubbing'? She's just not being included -- it's nothing active, it's not like he went walking down the street and saw her, and turned the other way or whatever.

And yeah. I'd have been surprised if she was included. I'm completely unsurprised that she wasn't.

But snubbing makes it sound so much more dramatic, you know. *rolls eyes*

There is so very little factual information available about the situation that the media is reduced to desperate (and ridiculous) speculation and interviewing Jackson's former hairdresser for clues about his mental state. They have an actual 100% genuine factoid here re. the will and they're going to milk it for everything it's worth. Or not worth, as the case may be.

But but but--"snubbing"?? I mean, geez.

Journalism annoys me anyway, but moreso this year than usual, probably because of all the hyperbole on the economic stuff and the swine flu, and now this. Ugh.

So totally hear you. Hyperbole journalism: it's incredibly tedious. I sometimes get the feeling that the 24x7 news cycle has turned every news program into a shouting zone. Each newscaster shouts, trying desperately to drown out/distinguish themselves from the other gajillion shouting newscasters. Every tidbit of news, from the mundane to the important is delivered with the same breathless OMGCAPSLOCKSCROLLINGGRAPHICS quality. *sigh*

Media circus. It turns my stomach.

This is apropos of nothing, I'm just thinking aloud, but I have been thinking about those boys who brought suit against him. We're never going to know if any of it was true, but I keep thinking that, if there is truth to it, how they must be feeling, watching the world canonize him.

I did respect his music, and feel deeply sorry for him having grown up in that environment. Just, like I said, I roll back around to the media circus turning my stomach.

Yeah, it makes me wonder about the boys, too. The hell of it is, at one time, they were fans of his, too.

I respect(ed) his music as well, and I can recognize that he was of tremendous influence in the pop/rock world...but yeah. I hate all of this, too.

I don't want to talk about all this crap anymore.

Is that really Jensen or a manip? Either way, it's lovely. Hope the Big Bang is behaving.

Nope, it's a screencap from Dark Angel :) He is pretty, isn't he? Mmmm. Twink!Jensen :)

Big Bang is... frustrating the HELL out of me. But hopefully I'll get it finished up in the next couple of days -- since I have to post this coming Monday. (Eep!)

The media is just making me sick about all of this.

They treated him like a pedophilic freak show when he was alive, but now he's a legend, and amazing, and revolutionary, etc.

And wtf? Ex's never get anything o.0

Yep. It's all so very hypocritical on the part of, well, everyone pretty much.

See, it never would have occurred to me even to think of her in terms of a will. Because exactly what you said: Ex's never get anything.

I suppose people think she was due some sort of payoff for lending him her female parts to pop out two children for him to mistreat? I don't know. It's all beyond me.

Yeah. It's such a huge mess, all of it.

Maybe if she's supposed to get custody now? It might make sense in that situation for her to get something, though I'd expect the bulk of any money to go into some kind of trust for the kids rather than to their guardian directly.

I dunno, I'd think all the money exchange would happen at the time of divorce unless there was something stipulated/agreed to at the time of the divorce. (Say if someone got to remain in the house to raise the kids, but at time of sale half went to each or something like that.)

Supposedly she signed over her parental rights, so I don't know how that would work. Regardless, I think it's rare that a former spouse gets mentioned in a will as a recipient of anything, other than possibly as a trustee for the child/ren involved. So that's what I found so incredibly bizarre--that the media is treating it as if he actively DID snub her, when in fact... it's a big lot of nothing. Just the media being stupid and sensationalist as they've been all year.

Google News informs me (WHY ON EARTH AM I READING IT, YOU MIGHT ASK, AND RIGHTLY SO) that a court in 2006 let her appeal the parental rights waiver, but then there was a settlement with an undisclosed pay-out? OR SOMETHING? Again, I repeat, wtf am I reading this... *facepalm*
