some rambling thoughts related to 4x22

without_me made about what the Js said at the LA Con, for the direction of these thoughts. Also, everything I say about next season is just speculation. I'm unspoiled, so it's just my brain and nothing more :)
First of all, though: the SamnDean at the end almost made up for the hell Kripke put us through during the whole of S4.
That said, I speculated last night that maybe the whole "special child" thing was set up to ensure a host for Lucifer when he rises. I truly and totally hope that ends up NOT being the case (I would love, actually, to see John Glover play the role, as he did in Brimstone), because they've spend too much time moving in opposite directions; we need them back together and united against...whatever. I hope Sam and Dean shagged ass out of the convent before Lucifer fully materialized. Particularly as we know Dean's still supposed to be the one who brings it all to an end by killing Lucifer -- and if Sam is meant to be the host/vessel for Lucifer, there's the Sam vs. Dean that none of us want to see.
Ruby's comment before she was killed, about how grateful Lucifer's going to be that Sam freed him, that Sam can't imagine the reward that'll bring -- it would make sense, right, to Ruby (and any other demon, I imagine) that being groomed to be the host would be rewarding beyond rewarding. I doubt SAM would see it that way, but that kind of makes sense and ties it together. Please don't go there, Kripke. Please please please.
And now the horrifying thought I had, while commenting in River's journal: If you've seen BtVS, remember the S2 finale of that? When Angelus was opening the whosiwhatsis, and Buffy was going to have to kill him in order to stop it? Willow's spell kicked in just before Buffy could kill Angelus...and she wound up having to kill Angel. If we end up being a Dean(saviour) vs. Sam(lucifer), and Lucifer vacates Sam's body just as the killing blow happens... Dean would never, ever forgive himself. And I would never forgive Kripke, but hopefully that goes without saying even though I said it.
Let's hope Kripke isn't really trying to follow in Joss Whedon's footsteps, shall we? *frets*
Thinking in terms of that -- since we know Jared and Jensen (and Kripke et al) are no longer unfamiliar with fans and how we think...maybe that's what the Js were talking about when they said fans would spend all summer tormented. *frowns*
Ugh, now my head hurts.

Date: 2009-05-15 11:37 pm (UTC)Sam-as-Lucifer's-vessel would be...kinda disappointing and obvious. Season 5 really needs to be about the boys reconnecting hard core to save the world.
*crosses fingers*
Maybe the reward has something to do with Sam's "Boy King" status? Lucifer's new second in command with Lilith and Azazel dead?
Yeah, I don't want a recycle of Buffy S2. I want the originality SPN started with.

Date: 2009-05-15 11:48 pm (UTC)It would be kind of cool though, if Sam IS supposed to be the vessel...but isn't there to accept his 'honor'. Heh. And then Sam and Dean kick ass and take names.

Date: 2009-05-15 11:56 pm (UTC)And yeah, if he's supposed to be, but isn't, would be interesting. Lucifer hovering there looking around for his vessel...
But it reminds me of what Smallville already did with Zod. Been there, done that, don't want to see it again.
I'm all for the ass-kicking:)

Date: 2009-05-16 12:35 am (UTC)But, ya know its what fits the most with what they've set up. Damn it Kripke! I've never second-guessed Kripke or the show. I've never been one of the 'oh noz, I hate this' kind. I've always been very comfortable knowing they would end up doing the Awesome - as seen in Jump the Shark. But this? I have to admit I'm really really worried. I don't think they have the budget to show Lucifer walking around on earth without it being stupid unless he's in Sam and I just flat out don't want him to be Sam.
Hey- all you people going to cons before the season starts - ask Jared if Sam's still going to be 'in a dark place' this year. That might give us a clue!
