sex and writing, oh my!

I think I'm the only person in the western hemisphere not watching the Oscars. Ah, well. If there is anyone else not watching, feel free to come on in here and chat :)

I'm trying to work up to the final couple of scenes in the sweet charity fic I'm working on. OMG writing sex, y'all. O_O I know I've said this before, and I also know that no one really believes me... but I don't like writing sex. Or, okay, it's not that I don't like writing it. It's more... I always worry that it's going to sound stilted, or mechanical, or just...anything but hot, sexy, arousing -- y'know, basically, how sex should read.

I was trying to explain this to cormallen a few minutes ago, and basically it boils down to "do you have ANY idea how much I've written? I've been in fandom since, oh, right about now... circa 1996.

So I decided to figure out the stats, as it were. *g*

Not counting all the (probably) dozens of ficlets and drabbles I've done, and just titled, posted stories... I have roughly 325 stories written in 11 different fandoms, over 13 years (and if I counted correctly, 46 of those are co-authored, written with jessie_s_girl, pierson, halowrites, nopseud, silveryscrape and lazy_daze).

78 of those I have listed as "not rated" or are G, PG, PG-13 -- in other words, no sex, or not enough to warrant a higher rating.

So roughly 3/4s of everything I've ever written, has a rating of R or higher *g* And I don't write a lot of violence stuff, I mean sometimes there's violence in it, but I don't think I've ever written anything that had to have a higher rating just because of the violence.

Hmm. I probably should put the story up for tonight now, and go to bed--because the thing I hate more than anything, is starting to write a scene that's going to have sex in it... and getting interrupted. Having to stop and start again.

Damn, and SO close, too. *headdesk* Guess I shouldn't have stopped to figure out my stats, huh? *g*

Oh, I'm glad I'm not the only one :) I don't go see movies, so I wouldn't even know what most of the films are, or who the actors are, or anything.

Instead, I postulate about writing sex! Whee! See what an exciting life I live? *g*

I haven't seen most of what they're talking about either. I never got around to watching Wall-E, wasn't interested in The Dark Knight, and I've never heard of anything else they've been talking about having a chance of winning. So I thought, why make myself sit through a bunch of award-giving when there's all this wonderful fic online to be read? =)

Ha, I once wrote an entry on all the ways bookmarking on Delicious has caused me to realize how OCD I am, so I'm really in no position to gloat over my exciting life.

Yeah, I try not to examine too closely just HOW OCD I am, when it comes to Delicious bookmarks. *g* I feel your pain. (I alphabetize my spice rack, and my movies, and and and, yeah. Ugh.)

I would've liked to see Wall-E and The Dark Knight, but movie theater seats + my more-than-generous hips = not very comfortable :( Ah, well. I'll see 'em sooner or later. But yeah, I don't have the patience to sit and watch all the pretty people try and be humble *g*

Oh God, this reminds me of the exercise where a friend of mine figured out that we'd done FIFTY THOUSAND PAGES OF GAY ORGY. FIFTY THOUSAND PAGES. NOT WORDS. PAGES. It took us 14 months of writing between 8 and 14 hours a day. ORGY ORGY ORGY.

Been working on photos from Fullbright's show (http://vickita.livejournal.com/560001.html). The boy surfaced in Memphis (where he is at the Folk Alliance Conference) long enough to upload some music files tonight, so I'm trying to pull the package of photos together for the CD art...
