[livejournal.com profile] digitalwave, please let me know if y'all made it back from Indy safely, okay?

[livejournal.com profile] mkitty3, do y'all still have power? Ours keeps flickering in a very unsettling way.

The entire northern half of Kentucky (Elizabethtown being more-or-less on the dividing line, yay us) along with Indiana and Ohio is currently under a state of emergency due to the ice storm. At the moment, it's raining, but the temp (currently at 32F) is supposed to start falling again in the next couple of hours, and all that will change over to freezing rain (again) and then into snow, with Louisville expecting 3-6" inches by mid-morning.

The entire freakin' state is closed. Courts, schools, businesses, all of it. Hell, Fort-freaking-Knox is closed. You know it's bad when the military base closes. I so do not want to call in again tomorrow, but even less do I want to drive in that shit. State and local police are saying to stay in unless you have to go out.

I do need to know if any of y'all will bail me out of jail when I give in to the urges to commit infanticide, though. ARGH.

We are still on. Had a scare around 7pm but it came right back on. I think we might be right on the edge of the freezing rain and just rain. Ice is still covering everything, but maybe if we don't get anymore we'll be able to keep our power on. We're prepared just in case.

...oh fuck me, a friend of mine lives there and she's got important doctor shit to get to. *sigh* I'm sorry--I mean, I'm worried about everyone, but I'm REALLY worried this will delay her tests and she'll just decide to fucking STAY HOME or something, which is not good. *sigh*

There's a really good chance her doctor won't be open. A lot of clinics are closed tomorrow -- I don't know if she lives in the viewing area that I do, but the warnings extend all the way up through Carroll county and on into the counties that border Ohio. Everything's starting to refreeze, now.

Just to give you an idea of the scope of the closures, go here: www.wave3.com and click on the "closures" link. Last time I checked, it was over 400.

It's snowing here...again. It took me well over an hour for a maximum 30 minute drive today. Stay home if you can.

We did, sweetie. We just didn't have power for me to be able to post until just a bit ago.

Boy, I missed you guys! Which is why I'm still up and not asleep where I so need to be right now.

*hugs you very hard*
