If you were going to be stuck on a desert island, or shipped off to the moon, or the world was ending around you...what ten pieces of fanfiction would be your "must-have's"? (Links to said stories are welcome and appreciated *g*) There is no limit on size/number of chapters, so long as it's considered *one story*.

Mine are (and this is no particular order, just the ten I wouldn't want to be without):

1. The Killing Moon, by [livejournal.com profile] poisontaster (SPN a/u)
2. The Dallas Deception, by [livejournal.com profile] aynslee (CWRPS a/u)
3. Something Borrowed Something Blue, by [livejournal.com profile] belyste (CWRPS a/u)
4. Human Behavior, by [livejournal.com profile] visionshadows (Popslash a/u)
5. Chimera, by [livejournal.com profile] jaguarcaine (Dark Angel)
6. Rite of Passage, by Rushlight (HP)
7. Rubber Ducky, You're The One, by [livejournal.com profile] impertinence (SPN)
8. The Road Goes Ever On, by [livejournal.com profile] thehighwaywoman (SPN a/u)
9. The Book of Secrets, by [livejournal.com profile] rhyssj (Popslash a/u)
10. Dark Passage, by Elizabeth Kent (A-team)

Okay. That took me 45 minutes -- it's not easy, narrowing down 12 years of fandom participation and reading into ten stories *g* And there were so, so, SO many left off that are favorites of mine...except, if I knew I was only going to have 10 stories, ever? I'm going to go for length, along with everything else. I think the shortest one of these listed is like, 22,000 words. (I also apparently have a thing for a/us. Who'd'a thunk?)

Anyway! Lets all get stranded somewhere together and pool our resources. So--what are your favorites?

I (heart) Dark Passage, but I have an affection for angst and recovery.

I have Rhiannon Shaw's HL series loaded on my handheld; even though I was involved with beta-reading several of them, I still like them. http://rhi.moonlit-eyrie.com

I also like Speranza's work, both as Speranza and Francesca; it would be hard to pick just one of her stories since she's written so many.

This was SO FREAKING HARD.

I'm interested that I have more J2 AU's than SPN fics. I think that may be that there are more J2 fics that are comfortfic for me, and the SPN stuff I tend to not read over and over as much because my tastes are geared towards angst and it wrecks me ;)

I love that we have some overlap *g* Great minds and all of that.

I (re-re-re-re-re-ad infinitum)read "The Killing Moon" today. C/p'd it into a word document and read in between bits of filing. 142 pages. *headdesk* I might possibly have not gotten as much filing done as I could've/should've/would've. Heh.

Honestly, I thought about putting that on my list...then didn't just because I'm always uncomfortable with the whole self-pimping thing. Or whatever that would be. But yes. I'm declaring this should be a baker's dozen instead of ten, and Absinthe makes the list *g*

Oh, no no-- The Killing Moon is an SPN story. :) Sorta-kinda post-apocalyptic (a/u and jossed to hell and back when S2 started) in that a plague of presumed demonic origins has killed all the women, and in their place made it so some men are "breeders" -- uterus and all. And [livejournal.com profile] poisontaster incorporates what [livejournal.com profile] rhyssj did in her story MPREG, and brings Chris in near the end, briefly.

The link is up in the original post, #1 :)
