It was 79.9F in my office today, when I left work. When I got there this morning (at SEVEN IN THE MORNING) it was already 77.3F. I still have a headache :(

And because I'm feeling cranky/bitchy (again, still, whatever. I need to get my period before PMS becomes a permanent thing)...

The definition of a DRABBLE IS: Drabble: (n) Set by the Birmingham University SF Society as thus: a self-contained vignette of exactly 100 words, no more, no less, with up to 15 more words are allowed for the title. Hyphenated words are in dispute. The term originates from a Monty Python skit: "Drabble. A word game for 2 to 4 players. The four players sit from left to right and the first person to write a novel wins." Drabbles started in British SF fandom in the late '80s. A half-drabble is fifty words long; a double drabble is 200 words long.

This rant brought to you courtesy of the following, as seen somewhere on my flist:

I wrote drabble. Wincestuous drabble!

Title: Let Go
Fandom: Supernatural
Pairing: Sam/Dean
Rating: R
Wordcount: 414

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH. Yes. Sorry. Any of y'all who know me know this is a THING, and you can and should just ignore me. Because it is a thing. It's my big peeve, and it always gets worse when I don't feel good. Like now.

Oh, I hear you on the drabble. It's 100 words, not 99 and not 101. 100, period.

Wow, so if a double drabble is 200 words, does that make that a super sized extra deluxe drabble with dressing on the side?

Breathe. And bask in the glow of your air conditioning. *fierce hugs*

THAT is a fic and needs to be pointed out to the original poster. Good grief.

I agree. A drabble is 100 words. I mean...I can see where someone might've missed this briefing if they're newly arrived, but WHY NOT JUST CALL IT A FIC OR A FICLET. JUST TO BE SAFE.

so long as you don't call it a 'ficcie' or I might have to punch you in the face! (well not you in particular, although if you want me to punch you in the face, I can ;)

I dunno, since I've started on my meds I'm kind of turned on by pain. We could give it a fair shot. *provides jaw*

oh, man, that makes me crazy, too! 414 words is not a drabble, okay? IT'S JUST NOT.

People cannot read. Or count.

It drives me insane, too. *g*

It's a ficlet or a flash. I concur.

Sorry you've had such a hot day. We've had one here too. But you should totally have ac at work.

*hugs*

It's a ficlet, dagnabit! A ficlet!
(although I admit, I may have been guilty of misuse of 'drabble' once or twice back in the day)
*blows kisses*

I once wrote something I claimed as a drabble but it was 113 words or so. I feel so incredibly dirty having done that.

I always thought a drabble was considered to be 100 words exactly O_O

I thought I was the only one so extremely anal about that! If you go over a 100 words, say you started as a drabble, but ended up with *this*, but if it's not 100 words, IT'S NOT A BLOODY DRABBLE!! The whole thing about a drabble is the challenge to fit it all into those 100 words. To cheat and write 104 and still call it a drabble is CHEATING and UNFAIR and drives me BATSHIT CRAZY. Okay, okay, enough crazy for one day. Also, I would *kill* for 77F. I just got to work and it's 24F and I'm cold and whiny and soooo over winter already :(

I wrote a quadrabble once, but labeled it as such.

*prepares for defriending*

Oh god that annoys me so much. Why is it that the Supernatural fandom hasn't figured that one out yet?

Awww....

The problem is the whole one person gets it wrong. They're not told. They don't correct it. And the problem spreads.

If/when I spot it, I'll let them know about the problem :)

I am horribly guilty of committing that sin. So now I say FICLET. Everything small I write is a ficlet unless it is DEFINITELY 100 words. lol
