for a good cause
Jan. 30th, 2008 11:18 amGot this by way of
rejeneration yesterday, and it's a very cool thing:
http://www.freerice.com
For every word you get right, the organization (via their sponsors ads, shown at the bottom of the page) will donate 20 grains of rice through the United Nations, to help combat world hunger.*
You don't have to register or anything, and you can play as much or as little as you like. (If you're an utter word geek like me, you'll keep playing, trying to surpass your own scores *g*)
*I googled it, and one serving (one cup worth) of rice = 1000 grains. So for every fifty words you get right, you'll have donated one serving of rice. I did 3000 (3 servings) in just under half an hour :)

Date: 2008-01-30 05:33 pm (UTC)Try NOT to think about the fact that one of those little plastic bags from your local supermarket has somewhere around 60,000 grains. (= It's all about learning and helping people out!
-kiss- Thanks, babe!
