This is great. Poor John, rueful, regretful, guilty---this is definitely the same guy who sheepishly confesses that he spent the boys' college funds on ammo. And all the little details, like Sammy teething on a dog toy, and the grape popsicles and the Knight Rider lunchbox---and the bittersweet hope at the end---love it.
