I dabbled and played a bit in ST fandom (mostly Voyager), but my first "real" fandom, where I wrote and squeed and obsessed, was The Sentinel. I'm not fannish about TS any more, but it still makes me kind of happy/warm/fuzzy to see references to that fandom -- or pictures of the stars from that fandom.

I'm sure a lot of y'all know Jared's movie Home For Christmas; did you know Richard Burgi played Thomas Kinkade's father? (Also, RB was apparently in F13 with Jared. Who knew!)

[livejournal.com profile] andreas_ri has been posting still from Home For Christmas; beneath the cut are five (very large) stills of Richard Burgi as Bill Kinkade.

These are really big; dial-up beware. )

Those pictures make me think of an older Jim Ellison, a la the episode "Deep Water" *g* Anyone else?

A friend posted: "A friend of a friend's son is in last stages of a 2 1/2 year battle with neuroblastoma cancer. The family is celebrating Christmas next week. Noah's wish is to get lots of Xmas cards. He is 5 1/2 yrs old! "Lets pay it forward" If everyone posts this we can... make this possible!!!

There's a news article at: http://www.mlive.com/news/detroit/index.ssf/2009/11/thousands_send_early_christmas.html about Noah and his early Christmas, and Snopes has an article on it at: http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/medical/biorkman.asp, verifying it as true.

This...this is why I have so much trouble believing in God. What sort of loving, caring God allows a child to die before they've even begun to live? *sigh* Now that I've cried some more, yeah, I'm going to go to bed.

It's beginning to be that time of year (and pumpkin pie is my version of birthday cake *g*).

I found this recipe and thought I'd share it with y'all. I haven't tried it yet, but it seems pretty straightforward:

1 15oz can of pumpkin
1 12oz can evap skim milk
3/4 c egg substitute (or 3 egg whites)
1/2 tsp salt
3 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1 tsp vanilla
2/3 c splenda (+/- to taste)

~~~~
Preheat oven to 400F; spray a 9" pie pan with Pam. Combine all ingredients and beat until smooth. Pour into the pie pan. Bake at 400 for 15 min, then at 325 for 45min, or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
Serve with some sugar-free coolwhip, if desired. :)
Serves eight; counts as 1pt per piece (on the Weight Watchers point plan), or 8pts for the whole pie.
I told my sister about this, and she was all, "but I LIKE the crust!" So do I, but if this means I can have pumpkin pie on a (semi) regular basis without racking up the calories/fat of regular pie... well :) The kind with the crust can be a special treat. And hey, this is a fantastic way to get your veggies in ;)
