randomness on a tuesday
Aug. 19th, 2008 10:15 pm1. Something that routinely, without fail, manages to annoy me -- that I see at the end of so very many posts to the assorted comms I'm on: If this isn't allowed, please delete.
How about...ask first? Or, heaven forbid, read the user info/comm rules?
2. Watching BtVS with Matthew is alternately amusing as hell ("she's really hot, mom" "....") and irritating as fuck ("blah blah blah QUESTION ABOUT EP blah blah blah" "...WATCH THE SHOW!"). We finished up Innocence (S2) tonight.
3. I've applied for three different state jobs that are down here in Etown. On one, my app status says "Certified to Agency", which more-or-less translates into they like my experience, etc., and with luck I'll get an interview. On the second, my app status is "Approved", which means I meet at least the minimum requirements for the position. The third one hasn't rated yet. I can't express how much it would mean to me, to live and work in the same town.
4. The people I work with pick the weirdest things to lose their shit over. Just a random observation, that one.
5. I did a shitload of filing today, and there's boatloads yet to come. Our new Lieutenant is in house-cleaning mode, with disposals out the wazoo. (Which is good, because hard as it is to conceptualize, we are nearly out of space.) We're all still waiting for the so-called "paperless" tracking system to kick in. I think it would work better if they actually got the signature pads and wireless scanners and whatnot up and running. :P
6. I came home and slept for 3.5 hours on the couch, which was really not the smartest thing I could've done.
7. I need to get over myself and stop letting things hurt my feelings. Particularly when there was no intent and likely the person(s) doing so would be clueless as to the whole thing.
8. I signed up for a Family Call plan and got (free!) cellphones for both me and Matthew. Without mentioning it to my mom or sister. It'll get mentioned once the phones are here and activated; I'll tell mom to cancel my line on her account. I expect there will be some "discussion", but it's a done deal, I feel good about it, and they can just deal. I'm not a child, I don't need anyone's permission to live my life. And maybe if I say it often enough, I'll start to actually believe it. Still not sure how I feel about giving Matthew a cellphone -- I have Issues, wrt kids and cellphones -- but I think at this point I'll be more comfortable knowing he has access to a phone whenever he needs one. (Though believe me when I say, there will be rules. Heh.)
9. There is no number nine.
10. I'm going to see if I can't get some more of the kissing ficlets done. So far there's Sam/Dean and first kiss and Alec/Sam and running to get inside from the rain. More yet to come, stay tuned. :)
