Day One, Please deliver me
Jun. 9th, 2008 06:38 pmV.v. limited 'net access...I spent the first two hours twitching restlessly every time I even looked at my computer. Ugh.
I started moving property cards around, today. They're so crammed into the drawers of the filing cabinets that it's nearly impossible TO file, in some of them. This is a dirty, hot job, and it's not helped by the fact that half of the '06's are at the wrong end of the filing cabinet bank. But to give y'all an idea of how many cards I'm talking about here... we have, on an average... 20,000 cards (each card represents one case) PER YEAR. Right now we have all of 2001 through present upstairs, along with about 1/3 of 2000. Everything prior to about September of 2000 is down in the basement. That's about another five or seven filing cabinets.
But, so, yeah. Shifting and moving property cards. It would be sweat-inducing regardless; given that the temperature inside my office today was already 76F by 10a... I about died. I ended up getting so overheated (in spite of the 56+ ounces of water I sucked down) I was sick to my stomach for a while. Well, nauseated, anyway.
Bleh. Tomorrow I need to remember to put my hair up into a ponytail--it'll help me stay at least marginally cooler.
Now I think I"m going to grab a quick nap and then try to do some writing. Maybe.
