I think he would have used his own blood if he'd had to, with little or no hesitation, but he would *not* have gnawed his own arm to get it, if he'd had any other option, and he wouldn't have smiled, no matter what.

I think he would, if it were an urgent save Dean situation, but I think there'd be some hesitation and horror, because of the blood-drinking associations -- I don't think it would have the same badass feel to it at all.

I think Sam would have used his own blood if he had to. But I don't think he would have bit into his arm first thing. Weren't there other fluids around? Granted, EW! But still.

I'd say at this point, Sam's got a real squick about blood in his mouth- even his own. Also, he's never been one for self-inflicted violence. He would have found a different way out.

Would also like to say: Soulless!Sam probably was not acting to save Dean or to save humanity. He was saving his own ass. And once again, without the soul, the end goal becomes the most important thing. So in my opinion, Souled!Sam would not have chewed open his own wrist and used his blood to make the devil's trap, but he *might* have found something else to cut himself on, or discovered a different way out.
