... A WINTRY MIX OF PRECIPITATION LIKELY...

A WINTER STORM WILL AFFECT THE AREA WEDNESDAY INTO THURSDAY... BRINGING LIGHT SNOW TO THE REGION AS EARLY AS WEDNESDAY MORNING. THIS LIGHT SNOW WILL TRANSITION TO A WINTRY MIX OF SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN BY WEDNESDAY EVENING ACROSS SOUTH-CENTRAL KENTUCKY. THIS TRANSITION ZONE WILL PUSH NORTHWARD THROUGHOUT WEDNESDAY NIGHT... WITH PERHAPS A CHANGEOVER TO ALL RAIN OVER FAR SOUTHERN KENTUCKY BY THURSDAY MORNING. NORTH OF THE RAIN LINE... A WINTRY MIX OF FREEZING RAIN... SLEET AND SNOW WILL BE POSSIBLE OVER CENTRAL AND NORTH-CENTRAL KENTUCKY... WITH A SLEET OR SNOW MIX OVER SOUTH-CENTRAL INDIANA. THIS WINTRY MIX WILL AFFECT THE AREA THURSDAY MORNING AND PUSH OUT OF THE AREA THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

ALTHOUGH PRECIPITATION TYPE IS STILL IN QUESTION... A WINTRY MIX OF ICE... SLEET AND SNOW ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE POSSIBLE. HOWEVER... A SMALL SHIFT IN THE TRACK OF THE SYSTEM WILL GREATLY ALTER PRECIPITATION TYPE FOR ANY LOCATION SO STAY TUNED TO LATER UPDATES.

Currently, it's 15F, with a wind chill of ZERO. I can deal with the cold (mostly by not going out in it *g*), except for how it's pouring in upstairs in my room, all around the window, rendering it very, very chilly. *shivers* At least it's cozy downstairs.

Brrrr.....

I live in front of my space heater, but. I loathe the cold. Even in summer my hands and feet are cold. :(

I remember KS and wind chills of 45 below - no fun! *wraps you in blankie and gives you cocoa*

Brrrr!

Hey, maybe you guys could camp out downstairs! Hot cocoa, sleeping bags, tent? Kinda fun in a... um... forced to huddle for warmth by Mother Nature way? *weak smile* *smish*

Ohgeez that's cold. *sends Jared to warm you up*

Oh I hear you about the windows! Ours are 40 years old and it's like a wind tunnel in here. In a pinch you could put some duct/packing tape around the sash and a towel at the bottom. The towel trick works for along the bottom of doors as well.

We had this weather on Sat/Sun. I spent most of those days either wearing my coat or sitting in front of my space heater. Of course, where I live, this sort of thing is much more common than in KY . . .

Heat rises, so your upstairs should theoretically be warmer than downstairs. We found some squishy foam window insulation at Lowe's or Home Despot. It's gray and about an inch square, but you pinch it or roll it so it fits into the cracks around the window frame, and it does a decent job of blocking the draft. Worked in the crack between our double-hung windows, too.

Hot cocoa, STAT! Marshmallows optional. Stay warm!
