What peeves me is that almost nobody would judge a man for writing what he wanted, reading what he wanted, or thinking what he wanted about sex. They might not like reading it--might even say the content was sick or perverse--but he would be virtually safe from personal attack. A friend of mine who used to work in e-publishing said that at least half their clients were men writing under women's names--and there was some REALLY MESSED UP shit going on in those stories (I'm not talking kink, I'm talking 'women's arms being ripped off and used to rape them'). I gotta wonder how much perception of female sexuality is skewed by things like that--the male gaze disguised.
