My family doesn't know I write fanfic/slash, but my friends do. My family just knows I write, and my grandmother consistently wonders why I never send anything in for publication. XD;
I have gotten flak for my slash writing before, though. I had one bf, three years ago now, that used to tell me how I wasn't a "real writer" and that I was "wasting my talent" and all other kinds of baseless things because I really enjoyed writing solely fic then. The hurtful things people say about what they have little grasp of is mind-boggling.
