I've gone and gotten my days and nights all mixed up. Part of it was from being so sick--just sleeping whenever the coughing and wheezing would let me. But I'm normally/naturally inclined to be awake nights and sleep days. I've acclimated so that I can do the awake-days-sleep-nights thing, but given half a chance I revert--and it's not good to revert. Meh.

I've just finished reading several stories that I really enjoyed.

Leaving October - by [livejournal.com profile] gatorgrrrl. J2. A/U. Jensen's a widower with a young son and a secret. Jared is the new guy on Jensen's surveying crew who has the key to unlock that secret.

Awesome, awesome story. Have kleenex handy.

The other story I read...I really enjoyed it, but at the same time, I didn't.

One Easy Lesson - by [livejournal.com profile] ladyjanelly. BDSM. Jared/Jeff (non-sexual), Jared/Jensen.

I loved the BDSM aspect of this. She did an awesome, kick-ass job of nailing what safe, sane, consensual BDSM is all about. The respect and consideration, the love and caring that should be integral to it. I would want Jeff as my Dom, too, if I subbed for guys. Heh. The thing that I didn't care for, is that Jared is the sub. I just can't see that, in my head. At most I could see him as an occasional switch, but there is nothing about him that flashes "sub" or "bottom" to me, so it sort of skewed my enjoyment of the story. That's a preference thing, though, and I know it--it has no bearing at all on the fact that the story is a good one, very well executed.

She has a prequel for that here, Finding Something Right - Jared/OMC (Jared is 17), D/s. It explains how the things that happen in the above rec came to be.

This one, it was a little easier for me to imagine Jared as the sub--but I think that was more because he's so young, very naive, alone and on his own.

In any case, I recommend all the stories above; they're all very good (personal preferences aside *g*).

Now to go and decide if I should nap for a couple of hours, or just try to stay up until a reasonable bedtime.

I find it weird 'cause I just recced that bdsm fic the other day. :) (though dude, if you don't like subJared you're SOL with my epic that I owe for sweet charity, if I ever get the damn thing done. I should make a rule that I have to write for an hour a day or something.) (If nothing else, procrastinating about that will probably mean everything ELSE in the world gets done instead. :) )

Did you? I don't remember seeing it... *frowns* Hmm. Ah, well.

As far as the other *shrug* In all likelihood, I'll read it regardless, because I will do that, for some people. If I know the author and trust them -- and I know you, and trust you -- then I can read it. Might not like it as much as if it were my preferred arrangement, but that doesn't mean I can't still enjoy it :)
