mickeymI've seen -- and participated in some -- discussions around about how the scene with Chief, from 4x12, would've (should've) been triggery for Dean, considering his experiences in Hell.

epeeblade has written an absolutely gorgeous coda to that ep, that explains and shows so well how instead of being triggery, a scene with Chief might help Dean, at least for a time. It's beautifully written, and very descriptive, and I finished it with my chest aching for Dean.
Hail To The Chief - Gen, though rated R for mature themes (BDSM, violence).
Dean let it happen, leaned into the beating. It didn't feel like pain should feel. It took him away from the dark places, left a gentle thrum all over his skin, like rain pattering on a tin roof.
He didn't see the dungeon anymore, couldn't quite feel the metal of the pole under his fingers, where he'd braced himself before Chief had begun. Dean floated as sensation washed over him, warm to the bottom of his toes.
