Summary: Summary: Jensen is a disgraced British soldier and exiled to a regiment in the New World to serve under Captain Morgan. There he befriends a brash young lieutenant, Rosenbaum. Jared was adopted as a small child and raised by a native tribe. He has chosen the path of a two-spirit. When their worlds collide, the lives of all four men are changed forever.

This is, if not THE best (historically accurate, well-presented, well-researched) historical a/u I've ever read...then it's in the top five. The link above goes to the chapter index; it's fifteen chapters plus an epilogue. Plan to invest a good chunk of time on it.
